It's been a while since I updated my vision

Day 49 - September 07 - 7 weeks

There have been additional changes in distortion
but not vision and all benchmark checks appear
changed in some fashion.

Marginal change to the induced Gray circle. It is still
circular and located in what appears to be the upper
left portion of eye. The center may be lighter than a
week ago but the darker border stiill comprises a little
less than 1/2 of the total diameter.
The lightening is a good sign because it means the body
is slowly removing the blood inside the retinal layers.
I also think the gray circle is slightly smaller.
The gray circle is induced by closing both eyes for at least
10 seconds, then opening the right eye only. It is best done
in incadescent lighting and close to a wall. This benchmark
is always done in the bathroom, 18" from the wall, and the
two lights are 24" to my left.
Prior Benchmark 2 days ago:
I benchnarked the circle today and says if I stand
3 feet from a picture that is 13 inches wide on the wall ,
the dark circle is about 1 inch wider than the pic on both sides.
This appears unchanged, but may be less.

Benchmark views on the garage siding has changed for
the better, I think. Distortion on Horizontal lines has almost
disappeared, just a slight short upward arc on a single line.
Distortion on vertical lines has changed and appears to be
more closely aligned.
Lsst weeks perception was a 40 degree cut, the offset
appears slightly wider, and the lower portion, formerly straight,
now appears to bend to the left.
Todays perception is more closely aligned vertically, not possible
to determine the percentage of offset using peripheral vision.

Lamp in window of house across road is behind sheer lace
curtains and last week lamp was barely visible intermittently
as if the optic receptors are now partially functional.
Tonite the lamp is slow showing up, but perception is that
the lamp is easier to see, altho considerably dimmer than
the left eye sees it.

Last week: Peoples features seemed clearer today, my
imagination ?? or maybe better lighting ???
No apparent changes to this.

Last week I changed the Zoomtext setting from 2x down to 1.75x
Today I tried 1.5x for the morning, then set it back to 1.75x.

Left eye is still feeding info to the mix, and the resulting images are
messed up because of the left eye distortion patterns.

Still waiting on a call from nurse and still have questions.
The second hemorrage occurred at 7 weeks 6 days after
the first laser treatment. I am at 7 weeks, and the closer I get
to that 8 week mark, the more antsy I feel.

Distortion on Vertical lines is measured on a few benchmarks
and one is the lamp standards one of which is across the
street 75'  from where I observe it. The distortion at its
worst had the top offset  close to 3/4 at the 75' mark,
today it appears to be offset by 1/4 or less, tough to measure without a ruler.

Tonight I made another attempt at drawing the distortion in
the right eye. I am using the window in the house across
the street. In real life the bars are white and the glass
appears dark grey. The window is approx 7' x 7' and is
comprised of 16 panes approx 20" square with 2" vertical
and horizontal framing. This window is approx 110 feet
away and at that distance, it appears to my perception that
the horizontal distortion covers a width of approx 30" and
rises approx 4". The vertical distortion offset appears to be
approx 2". The window below is as close as I can get to how
it appears, and this is the least amount of distortion and
the most normal view I have seen in the last 9 weeks using
the right eye only. The focal point is on the center crosshairs
and it is asumed that the distortion does not extend past
what it drawn, peripheral vision does not seem to be distorted.

Note: I will insert pic when I figure out the linking code.
I'll be damned, actually figured it out myself smile

This is the actual location of the pic

I can uderstand why you are getting twitchy Ashmedi as the 8 week point gets close but it sounds to me like there is definate improvement and no reaso why it shouldn't continue.  I'm pleased for you mate.  I'd noticed that over the last wek or so that you had semed to be picking up more detail on the vids.

Morning Elfman

Ya, it still is a pain with the left/right conflict and
I try using both eyes, but small details still evade me.
But I have noticed I can sometimes see if the girl
opened her eyes, this was almost impossible to discern
a month ago.

Nine weeks ago I thought there was no reason the
improvement wouldn't continue. The bang, another
very damaging hemorrage. The problem with wet
ARMD is that you live with a time bomb, and nobody
can tell you where the clock is sitting.

Trying to stay optomistic tho.

Nice to see you smile

Hi Ashmedi I think our brains do a wonderful job of adapting to the changed visual input and making sense of it. Hope your improvement continues smile

Re: It's been a while since I updated my vision

Afternoon Blissed.

If a person was to sit and think about it, every time your
focal point changes, your brain has to mix the images from
both eyes and give you a new composite. If you just pan
the room, that is a few hundred images in seconds, and all
high resolution. It is an amazing technological feat,

and we all take it for granted with no questions asked. smile

Re: It's been a while since I updated my vision

Hi,

I'm scheduled for lasik in mid November. They are going to do monovision. They will just treat my dominant eye. It will take a day or two to get over it. Up to a month or two for it to have full effect. My cornea is too thin for them to cut so they will apply the laser to the surface. Its called something different. The theory is that the brain compensates when the two different signals from the retina come streaming in. Look at distance, the treated eye takes over and blending happens. Look close up and the untreated eye takes over and readng glasses are not needed. I have gone for three days with a contact lense on the dominant eye. The brain took over, and while it was not seamless blending, it
was amazing.

Hey Ashmedi , keep your chin up. Patience is a virtue.

Re: It's been a while since I updated my vision

Good morning DA

I wish you well on your procedure, it sounds like you
have the same problem another person I know has.
I believe they tried to treat him with glasses.

It almost sounds if this procedure gives you the effect
of auto focus, something I need but in a more
modified version. I found it was incredible how well I
could see using 10x50 binoculars, unfortunately they
only help at distances more than 50 feet, and useless
in the car because of bounce.

The brain does compensate, or it attempts to, based on
the signals received. In my case, both eyes see things in
different locations, and with different clarity or brightness.
My brain has lost the ability to decide how the images
should be mixed. Sometimes I get the left, sometimes
the right, and sometimes some screwed up mix of the two.
Recently the brain is mixing both eyes constantly, and
it is not uncommon now to see cars with 3 wheels on the
same side, or a bicycle with the wheel to left appearing
to be 2 to 3 feet off the ground.

But I do wish you well, let me know how you make it.
