Are the IFM studios as famous as the Beatles Abbey Road studios in London, or is the location a closely guarded secret. Are there any problems with the paparazzi and groupies :-)

We provide free tours of the Studios, however they are located in such a dreadfully boring and isolated city that so far nobody has bothered to take up the offer.

Phew, thank you Richard, just for a moment then, I thought you were going to tell me off for posting an iffy post :-) I know you jest, Melbourne's a great metropolitan city. Royal Botanic Gardens, Melbourne Cricket Ground, IFM studios. Tours, brilliant idea, adults only, small charge, 1.69 ;-) PS great site.

Yeah but you can buy porn and fireworks. I'd call it party town.

I think calling the location a "city" is a bit of a stretch, Richard.

Wrong city my friend.

I have no idea how you managed to edit my comment rather than posting your own, but I see kangaroos around here all the time and can we just take a moment to acknowledge how depressing it is that I do actually know what they sound like on asphalt? I could give you a long explanation about how you see them even more around town now because of the drought and blah blah blah: jesus, fuck what am I doing with my life? Can we do some shoots at some of the more recognisable places around town, or would that be pushing it too much? It's getting warmer now, I think it's almost safe to strip a few layers of clothes off and not risk frostbite.
More importantly, though, I'm pretty sure this website was created just for you: http://parma.com.au/venues/?searchState=7&submit=1

I don't know either. And while trying to fix that I lost your post, sorry.
Thanks for that site, now you've confirmed my latent bogan proclivities for all the world to see. I notice a lot of those places have only 1 review, which may or may not be someone with a vested interest; methinks some independent sampling is needed.
Offline
I'd like to think you could start visiting each place on their list in the hopes that you might run into that one person who is enough a bogan to actually want to sample all the parma this town has to offer, while being enough of a geek to obsessively write reviews about it. Think about the tender moment you could share together as you mourn the loss of the parma-on-spag special. I think it could be really special.

The reviews are actually beautiful: "Date of consumption: 7 September 2010. Overall, an okay parma, and one of the cheaper ones in Canberra. The chicken breast was a little thin, and a little dry. Size was about average. The topping is where this parma shines – there is just enough cheese on top, and doesn’t overpower the bacon pieces on top. Is this a Canberra thing – bacon pieces on top? Whatever it is, I love it! Chips were pretty good too, it’s the typical Mooseheads beer battered, well seasoned chips. Unfortunately the quantity was about half of what was required. The salad I liked. It was simple, fresh and had dressing. It included rocket, shaved carrots, tomato, red onion and cucumber. I’ll give this a “pass” mark, although I’ve had better."

Whoops re-city (embarrssed look) must buy map or sat nav. Googled "bogan", not used in UK, now know for next time, cheers carstuff.

Now that you know what the word "bogan" means, be sure to use it whenever referring to Richard from here on. I'm sure he will look upon it as a term of complete endearment.

I wept a little when the reviewer seemed so deeply touched by a salad that not only boasted red onion, but also had dressing. I'm pretty sure parmas are the pizzas of Australia and even though I don't eat them I am truly looking forward to the day when they learn how to incorporate pineapple.

In a place like Canberra I think you have to try and find an oasis. This place looks quite good http://www.outincanberra.com.au/thestreettheatre I like neat organic cafes and arts venues theres bound to be one ior 2 neat social venues in Canberra. If you have good weather a car, a ghetto blaster and facebook you have an outdoor dance scene. Canberra's weather makes Wiggan in the north of England look like the north pole and it has a third the population of Canberra yet there are good little places like the Covern http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl … W2JYFfQqSY

Weather? Are you kidding? It's typically -2 outside when we start shooting these mornings.

I forgot about it being winter there. Still that's good for you, adversity is character building.
I would think being somewhere cosy and warm on a cold day would be a helpful contrast for studio work.

Blissed, the Street is lovely, so are the farmers' markets we have here and there are a few really nice cafes that have popped up. We also have more cultural institutions than you can poke a stick at, etc, etc - on paper, it is, potentially, a nice place to be. But I think the most accurate portrayal of Canberra life I have seen recently was this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0NleOtb_xtA
Also, this advertisement from yesteryear to attract young women to move to Canberra and join the public service is still pretty accurate: http://clubduh.com/blog/wp-content/uplo … nberra.pdf
Viva: I know, that review is just beautiful - who doesn't get a little excited when a salad has dressing? It's possibly even funnier for the locals who know that Mooseheads is a dive bar that is almost entirely populated by people from the Defence Force Academy and seventeen year olds trying to pick up.

Oh wait, and this one, too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RdIFx27opJc&ob=av3e
Canberra: it's the hip, happening place to be. It's just so exciting I think I might need to move to Sydney or Melbourne just to calm down.

Googled Camberra, looks great to me. Bush capital of Australia (wikipedia), I like bush's and also non-bush :-) Parmigiana I like the sound of, in UK pizza very popular and Asian take-aways, (used to be fish and chips). Enjoyed all the above links, very entertaining.

Dom have you seen The Chris Lilley miniseries We Can Be Heroes about Australian of the year? It's beyond funny into kind of disturbing and if I found it incredible I'm sure a true Australian would get headexplodey. Actually everyone should watch this.
Offline
Oooh I like Chris Lilley Viva thanks for updating me about his work. He's not very well known outside Australia and I thought his schoolgirl was really funny a few years ago, and now I find she's been nominated for Australian of the year!! ha ha
I've seen the 1st episode of Heroes but all six are available thanks to seesaw here and I'll watch one every night.

The woman that roles around I like. I don't think he's nastily taking the piss out of disability or misfortune but being properly inclusive.
Yeah anyway thanks and I definitely wouldn't donate any of my eardrums to anyone Lol
