Re: The IFM awards

I would just like to acknowledge all concerned and say that I made my deadline today for raising the first payment of an eventual $3+Million.

Up until about 7 pm last night I thought we wouldn't make it.
And then we did.

It's so much easier to raise a zillion dollars from a capital campaign than it is to get someone to pony up a tiny option payment (understandably), and it has caused me no END of grief these past six weeks.

Thanks to all who have sent me messages of support, especially Elfman, Burlesque, and Henning.

I can say now that I located and then joined IFM in part as a way to find solace in a simple pleasure (my attorney counseled "take simple pleasure in an arena that's new to you,") as a way to unwind from the tremendous anxiety of trying to preserve a huge mountain in the middle of my city that's been on the chopping block for 20 years.

Can we all take a moment to laugh at what a silly idea THAT was??
Joining IFM and chatting with you nice people as a way to "get away from stress and problems"???

Ha!!!!  Haha.  it is to laugh.

Well, we all know better now. Especially me. lesson learned.

Anyway -- mission accomplished. The mountain will live to see another day; thanks again, y'all.
I'll not need to take your cold hard cash, Burlesque. You can surely buy a lot of smokes with all that money I'm not stealing.  smile~

love,

Siobhan, the tree hugger

Re: The IFM awards

Ooh you definitely get a big award for that Siobhan

I have consulted with the awards committee and we're pleased to confer upon you our highest honour. That decision was unanimous BTW (except for Burlesque who complained that his award is now worth less and he now feels cheated and bitter.)

So well done, these awards aren't given out willy nilly so you can be justly proud that you really have done something great!!! smile

Having a green lung in the heart of a city is great, lets hope the rest of the project goes well and you can preserve the space in perpetuity smile

Speech!!!!!!! smile

Way to go Siobhan.  That's wonderful news.  Well done done Chère.  I know it has been hard at times but you  have acomplished something major here.  Something to proud of to the end of your days.  (but don't forget about my tree, will you smile).

Re: The IFM awards

Blissed, thank you for the award! ::Siobhan curtsies::

Of course, awards are wonderful (and yes, we can each have a tree), but the big REward will be when we can have the first annual IFM international film festival and obsequy contest right here (the geographic center of the IFM universe; it's true, i checked the map!), and we can all go out into the urban forest on a moon-drenched night and i'll perform a mating ritual with a giant sycamore tree in celebration. wink

I just checked.. and the earliest we can have this festival and contest is 9th August 2006, being a full moon night.

Re: The IFM awards

oh, my.
well, i had best let my videographer know that her services are requested.

but nibbler, i might not have made myself clear (which I'm learning is often the case!): when Li and I spoke on the phone that evening, we talked about the viability of a FAIFMIFFANDOC -- well, we talked about an IRL IFM gathering, and how that would go down -- and I think we pretty much decided that it would be a very lovely affair, and that there could be private isolation tanks for the socially discomfited (you know who you are), the germophobics who can't shake hands with strangers (we know who we are), the genus and species who are genetically driven to film every single moment of existence and create something of beauty from even the strangest of encounters (they know who THEY are) and the people who are too fucking beautiful to be safely seen in the flesh (they, fortunately, though the aegis of good parenting and socialization, don't really get it, yet, so we'll have to put them in tanks for their own good). I offered to host the whole shebang on the newly consecrated *B*E*A*U*C*A*T*C*H*E*R* Mountain Overlook Park.
And i see no reason to renig on that commitment. SO! Check with your travel agent for tickets to paradise.

Re: The IFM awards

no, no. That's for another time, in the future. We'll need our hostess, for one thing. And some more ladies. And Elfman needs to write a play for us to present, and you and Burlesque need to reconcile.

And I need to finish buying the land.

And Max needs to have a full-length feature to showcase at the opening of the festival. . . .

Lots to DO, people! look busy!

This is very exciting news as Burlesque has asked me to be the best man and Blissed asked my to be the priest. Now I had better get back to rehearsing the ceremony!!

You have a lot to do, Max! I thought, since both Blissed and I have decided to wear wedding gowns, it would be nice if you - of the impeccable taste - helped us pick them out. It should also help that you're an actual woman. I'm thinking leather and lace here. What do you think?

I'm on it.  Lets see.  Woodland.  Lots of elves.  Mostly female and not wearing many clothes (or any). It will require a large chorus.  I'll direct (of course.  Who else).

No dwarves at all, I guess? Well, with the semi-clad wenches in mind, that may be just as well.

Can I sing in the chorus? I can't sing and my vocal cords are shot, but I'm very enthusiastic when I start bellowing.

I thought that you were going to be in charge of security?  How can you do that if you rare cavorting round a forest with naked Elves?

Oh. No fun for Burlesque. Should have guessed. Statistically speaking, things were bound to turn out that way.

Oh well, no room to sulk. Stiff upper lip and all that. I shall need a map of the area and a list of any known undesirables in the vicinity. Me and the boys will have to give them a good talking to beforehand. We don't want any trouble.

I might let you frisk the performers for concealed weapons before the performance

Ah. Ah! I knew you'd come through for me in the end, Elf! And since I'm head of security I can frisk all I like. Nothing nasty of course. It's just that it never hurts to be thorough.

Re: The IFM awards

hmm. I dreamt of being frisked last night.

was that you?

have you taken even to hijacking dreams these days?? wink~

speaking of hijacking, i am going to shut my mouth right now and find the dream tread, or make one. we all need a place to talk about our wildest dreams smile

we now return to our regularly scheduled topic in this thread, the IFM awards. I would humbly submit to our awards master that he consider giving peteuk an award for the week's most interesting post about his lack of interest in something. bravo!

Re: The IFM awards

I beg your pardon, milady? I restrict my frisking and hijacking to working hours and professional circumstances. I am no Freddy Krueger of copping cheap feels. But now that you mention it, that would be intensely cool in too many ways to elaborate on. tongue

Dream thread: incandescent idea!

PeteUK deserves an award for wit and eloquence in general, so why don't we all just pitch in and give him a lovely bronzed ... something.

I'll second that one.  A man of great eloquence and perception I would say.  Anyone else noticed how his writing style is so similar to mine a lot of the time?

Re: The IFM awards

Thank you so much. I am proud – No, I am humbled – No, only a new word will fit this occasion.

I am prumbled to accept this delightfully bronzed something. I shall place it next to the only other thing I’ve ever won, that being a ticket to see Disney’s The Black Hole at the Odeon cinema when I was thirteen.

That is, assuming I don’t have to sell it to pay for the lawsuit Elfman might bring against me for stealing his writing style. In my defence, I was certain I’d stolen it from Penny Arcade’s Tycho Brahe, but only time, and the courts, will tell…
