Good points made in your video. I don't care if there was a record of me opting in but there's a shrinking but still sizable number of people whos porn is their own individual pleasure, and it's kept a secret from thier partner. However a whole household shares a connection, so having to opt in disrespects that persons confidentiality.

It adds extra costs they don't want. Pedo site blocking adds costs but works fine. I've never bumped into one. Blocking works wether it's software on their servers or a childs computer, so it's pointless having on the servers.

I've never come across a child-porn site either. But in spite of the alleged success in blocking them, it seems they still exist, so somehow some people know how to access them.

The idea of blocking all adult sites at source unless you opt in sounds sensible in theory, but of course there are problems. I generally hate censorship, but I read recently that something like 50% of 12-year-olds have viewed online porn. I'm not sure I'm happy with that, particularly when the probability is that they have mostly viewed misogynist porn.

So is there a better way of preventing this?

I think anything illegal goes peer 2 peer like illegal music.

Yep, make better sexual imagery and give both kids and adults a good sex education, not so much at school but by a sexually open society with a good exchange of experiences and information. (Scarleteen.com and Betty Dodson) , so they know if they're looking at rubbish.  To be honest with the sites I've quoted you and others I think we're traveling on the road to that now.

I recently saw a documentary and the statistics that shocked me most were to do with kids/teenagers accessing porn on their mobile phones. I can't remember the numbers but it shocked me. Some of them download it from the net and they send it around via text/email to their friends.

I was telling somebody the other day about my idea to start private sex ed clinics, to counter the problem of youth being educated by bad porn.  Which the majority are.  The state won't do it, parents don't do it, but I think there are enough who'd be prepared to pay a reputable specialist school to do it, for it to be viable.  And once it catches on, hopefully it could get government support and become also available to those who can't afford it.  It would only need to be a 6 session program, aimed at 14 to 18 year olds.  Classes of maybe 20 students, taken by suitably qualified teachers who have post-grad studies in the sex field.

I'm not in a poisiton to do it but I know people who are, and I think it's both socially important and completely viable.  It will become even more relevant in the years to come.

BBC has been showing a "Sex Education Show" the past few years.  Its generally 5 1 hour shows.  Part Sex 101 and part specialty topics.  Last year, for example, they did topics on sex and the old, obese, and those with physical and mental challenges.  I watch it just to see what the Brits will air, compared to the prudes in the USA.  But its an interesting take to sex ed.
