New porn magazine for women

Not sure how many people would buy it rather than have the images as part of a site or magazine that covers other things as well, but it looks good to me and seems to be more an aid to initial arousal and fantasy than voyeuristic fulfilment.
Any thoughts?

Re: New porn magazine for women

Seems quite interesting... though the "female gaze" stuff bugs me, somewhat. I can't quite articulate why at this point in time.

I liked the article on hard and soft core.

Thanks for sharing!

Yeah it's not exactly what I'd want to see made but it's an interesting concept.  Maybe I'll buy one, I think it's worth knowing what 'alternative' efforts are being made out there.

Re: New porn magazine for women

I just stumbled on a review.

1st commenter on the article wrote:

I think the models are sexy. But where’s the peen? I like my porn to be pornographic.

http://www.thefrisky.com/post/246-briti … inine-men/

I think having porn around that reflects androsexual preferences is good for everyone, including heterosexual men. Because the diversity of porn shows us that what we're presented with in top down media as attractive is really only a fraction of human sexuality.

Looks like they're having problems getting the printers to print pictures of hard cocks. They should run a website, or somebody should (hint hint).

the article wrote:

Filament, responding to reader feedback, had planned to include a photo set of an aroused man in their second (September) issue.

Re: New porn magazine for women

I just finished reading Filaments responding to readers feedback. That was a very interesting article. It brought up some good points, and asked some good questions.

So why are magazine shelves filled with naked girls...and not naked men? Why can tons of magazines show women, lubricating with arousal, and not men with erections?

That article reminded me of a friend I had a couple of years back. We were watching an adult video featuring American porn star Randy West. (it was an old Video)

He was having intercourse with (as usual) a very pretty young woman. (I think it was Belladonna)

She appeared to have an intense orgasms while receiving oral sex, and then again during intercourse.

Randy ended the scene with a powerful ejaculation. They both seemed very satisfied.

At the end of the scene, my friend told me that she must have faked her orgasms, or she was high on something. When I asked him why he thought that, he said that women in porn films don't cum.

I asked him why women can not achieve orgasms during the filming of a sex scene, but men obviously can achieve orgasm.

My friend actually became angry at my simple question! He told me that woman always fakes it in those videos because they hate what they are doing.

I countered by asking him why women hate sex, and therefore must fake their orgasms, while men can get hard and cums every time.

He could not answer that question. Instead, he just became more angry at me for not understanding the difference between male and female porn stars. We argued until he finally told me that I was to stupid to understand anything.

That was the last time I ever invited him to watch an adult video with me.

For the record, I think he was nuts. Of course women enjoy sex just as much as men. Why would anyone think that women are unable to achieve orgasm during filming, while their male partners always end the scene with an ejaculation?

Do some women ever fake orgasms? Of course some do. And some men can't make enough wood to shoot a scene. It works both ways.

I believe women who enjoy their work, also enjoys their orgasms, just like the guys.

So why wouldn't they also enjoy a magazine that shows men in full glory?

The web-link to the article Blissed provided in his last posting, reminded me of that friend because it essentially examines the same issues. If you read that article, you'll see what I mean.

Re: New porn magazine for women

Oh how totally ridiculous.  I really fear this kind of stuff.  I wouldn't necessarily expect WH Smith to stock something like Filament, but to have refusals to print it is really scary.  I have always thought it a shame that porn has moved so far away from print and I love the idea of actually making concrete, portable, smut-on-paper, and I would hate to see Filament go online because it was the only way to actually create the content they wanted to create.  Things like this prevent the democratization of erotic production because you end up having to hire a lawyer to help you figure out how the hell to do it legally, which not everyone can do, especially because so many folks who really care about diversifying and improving the quality of sexual media do it out of their own pockets, like the girl who started Filament.  So all of this potential and creativity and spark just goes out the window.  There are fewer and fewer places on the earth where you can experiment with producing sexy things, which is going to create even more homogeneity in an already stale industry.  Fucking scary.

Re: New porn magazine for women

It is insulting and is kind of one more tiny nail in the coffin that is being prepared for deadline orientated printed media.  Rupert murdoch bought myspace and it's unfortunately dying, what isn't unfortunate is that with portable web browsing, all his newspapers can die even quicker Yayy!!! smile Though magazines like Paris Match would survive because it's been awesome for years and on the net could be read in many other languages.

I think portable surfing that has a magazine type experience is on the way. The itouch is like reading a tiny pamphlet, but in 5 years I'm sure they'll be many more credible options.

I think that leaves filament with a 2014 multi interface multimedia website and special edition magazines sold in bookshops. In book printing the lack of strict deadlines and the choice of printing styles (a pop up section? smile ) means a printer could be found and though the attitudes that are hindering progress at the moment won't be dead, I can't really see them having the power they enjoy now.

Re: New porn magazine for women

Gala, I hear ya, bigtime. I would love it if porn magazines existed which were as regularly printed and as satisfying and full of beautiful eye candy to flick through as an art magazine.

I used to treat myself to art magazines once or twice a month when I was feeling meh. As much as I love the internet, there's nothing like paper between your fingers for a sense of intimacy and preciousness which I find lacking when looking at images (or reading stories) on the intertubes.

But besides all that, yeah, it's just plain scary and just another example of mankind's messed up attitudes to our own sexuality.

Re: New porn magazine for women

I see it as a suppression of women's rights, something men can do (a lot) and women aren't allowed, it's a small thing but so is being asked not to breast feed in a cafe, or expecting all men to wear ties at work, those issues won many of their legal challenges and in Europe I think this issue could be resolved successfully in a similar way or by simply printing in Holland :)

Re: New porn magazine for women

When the mag comes out with good looking guys with great bodies and hard cocks  I'm sure the guys who pose will take pride in their photos, I know I would if I was in there looking great. I wouldn't mind who saw them and I think I'd get a male stripper night reaction from most people I know who are women, to a mix of concealed jealousy and kudos from most people I know who are men. Having the issues surrounding the sharing of sexuality (nude modeling usually) flipped 180 degrees will be interesting and I'm hoping it will help lead to a chilling out of the attitudes surrounding women doing the same thing.

Re: New porn magazine for women

So I totally support what they're all about, and more power to them, and I find the idea of censoring erect penises ridiculous and offensive... but, um... a paper-and-ink porn magazine?  Isn't that kind of an anachronism?  I think I last bought a porn mag (a fairly embarrassing endeavor) back in the early '90s when I was still a teenager.  Nowadays, I (and I guess I assumed everybody else) get all my porn needs taken care of on the internet.

There used to be a really cool NYC based mag for hetero women called Sweet Action, but I believe it went under a few years ago.  I definitely would have modeled for them... if they'd have me.

A few weeks ago, I was at a construction site, and one of the other ironworker gangs had HUSTLER MAGAZINE CENTERFOLDS taped up under the lid of their job-box.  wtf?!  What century do these guys live in??  First off, all they need is ONE litigious female to walk by and see that stuff and their company will get the pants sued off it; and second of all, Who the HELL buys Hustler magazine anymore??

Anyway best of luck to the Filament people....

Re: New porn magazine for women

That's the kind of attitude that makes me fear that I can never realise my dreams, spiderboy.  But the fact that people are still posting pictures from Hustler on their lunch boxes is reassuring to me from a print-media perspective.  I'd like to depart from the Hustler demographic, of course, but I do think that having something in print has a special quality to it.  As a viewer, I'm kinda sick of computerised porn, and I'd love a book or magazine packed full of sexy things to wander through at my leisure.  When I've stared at a computer all day and my eyes hurt and I have a headache and I no longer want to look at things that are glowing at me, printed media is wonderfully soft and relieving and subtle.  I've got a couple of sexy pictures on my wall that I found in magazines.  It's something you can go back to at will without the mediation required with computers.  I do fear, sometimes, that our sexual urges have become so dependent upon digital media that we may distance ourselves completely from things that are in print or in the street or in flesh right in front of us.  There are things that I think the internet is great for, as far as promoting healthy sexuality and providing sexy material and allowing us to pretty much endlessly explore fantasy, but that constant instant gratification actually starts to look un-healthy to me after awhile.  If you can always have everything you want all the time, you become a spoiled brat, and you lose connection with what's in front of you at any given moment.  At least that's what I've found to be the case.

Re: New porn magazine for women

I always have bought porn mags and I always will. The trashier the better.

They all sit in a rack beside my toilet, well they go to the rack when I'm 'done with them'.

And every single person that has used my toilet, exempting my mother, has loved the fact that they exist.

Mags are te awesomeness.

Turn on.  Tune in.  Drop out.

Re: New porn magazine for women

Gala, those are excellent points.  Far be it from me to tread on your dreams!  I'm not sure I agree about the instant gratification thing (is there really a difference between the 17-year old me waiting impatiently for the latest issue of Penthouse Letters to come out, and the 30-something year old me waiting impatiently for a video to download?  Its just a different time scale.  '30 seconds?? But I want it NOW')  (identify the quote for a free bonus prize!)

As a writer, I absolutely recognize the difference between print and digital media, and I fear for the death of books.  In photography, the difference seems self-evident-- can you imagine looking at porn on a Kindle?  Yech!  And yet... the fact remains that I haven't bought an actual porno magazine (Aha! with the exception of a copy of Sweet Action in 05 or so that I purchased for my girlfriend at the time) since about 1993.

On principal, and by aesthetic choice, I'm always into supporting DIY, indy publications, literary, pornographic and otherwise.  I'd totally but a copy of your magazine Gala, and I wish you the best of luck if you actually pursue that particular dream!  But I still (kind of reluctantly) contend that starting a paper-and-ink porn magazine in the age of the internet is a somewhat Quixotic pursuit...

Hyper, I'd like to use the bathroom at YOUR house!
