A long time ago I tried raw kidney beens and chic peas and was really ill and spent most of the night confined to the smallest room in the house (raw Kidney beens contain a natural insecticide poison that has to be hard boiled out) I don't have a raw diet but I have tried quite a few of the ingredients. I like sprouts, I bought a kit to grow them at home in little cloth bags and when you start off and you set the 1st batches to grow your eyes are bigger than your stomach and when they've grown you end up with far more than you want to eat. For me raw Broccoli sprouts were the worst, (they need cooking) and alfalfa is the best. I also eat salad cress every day, it's living, totally fresh and is really easy to pick up when your shopping. I've tried dried but I'd like to try fresh seaweed, that sounds interesting. It's very high in iodine and Japanese prisoners of war who where made to harvest it and who lived on nothing else survived close proximity to the nuclear attack with far less radiation sickness or ill effects. Probably something good to eat before the cosmic radiation dose of a long plane trip.
Anyway, good luck with your diet, be interesting to see how you get on, what foods you try and what you think of them.

I've done raw cleanses and found them extremely difficult. It depends on your constitution. I've got a lot of digestive problems and so I find it helpful to aid that process a bit with cooked food, but of course then it depends upon how it's cooked. I think once I sort that stuff, though, I'd like to give raw cleanses another go. There's a lady on ISM called bobcat who is a firm believer in rawism and did a vid about making raw chocolate. She's got a website so you might be able to contact her through that.

Blissed, at least you survived through the poisoning, that must have been awful. I know there are quite a few foods that you can't eat raw.
Gala, I don't know what digestive problems you've got but apparently people have been cured of IBS on a raw diet - youtube is where I'm getting raw knowledge from. I don't think I could go 100% raw but I'm going to try some recipes. Here's a cool channel I just discovered . Bobcat is awesome

As far as I'm aware, raw food has more nutrients and such in it than cooked. However it has been hypothised that the human digestive system has actually evolved to eat mostly cooked food as raw food takes a lot more work for the digestive system (that's why cows have four stomachs, all that raw grass takes a lot of processing!).
I'm not making an argument against raw food here, I love the taste, the healthy feeling it gives me and it's a great way to lose weight... but it stands to reason that because it's harder to digest, for someone with a delicate digestion system it could cause upsets. Perhaps, Gala, it would help to eat a lot of processed raw food (not as in processed cheese, more along the line of finely chopped/blended) as apparentally, that can aid with digestion because once again, it's less work for ya system.
Just thinking out loud here, obviously not an expert, I just read a lot!

A wok is supposed to be a good way of fast cooking that destroys very little of the nutrients, so could be a good way of eating most of the ingredients of a raw diet if the totally raw diet is hard going.
Tasted a mushroom and cheese and god knows what else savoury crepe for the 1st time last week. It was beautiful!!! I bought it here http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&sourc … .47,,0,1.2

Oh man, don't say that right when it's my lunchtime and all I'll be having is hummus on pumpernickel bread!

Yeah, I read up on the raw vs cooked debate and it's all very interesting.
