Sound

I am sure everyone has noticed the fact that the sound quality on IFM is superb! I love the videography of the site. However the sound reproduction is marvelous. It makes such a powerful effect. Continued success from an admiring listener as well as viewer.

Thanks for noticing, we do put a lot of effort into the sound and it should be improving further still as we implement some new mic plaement techniques, and a new studio with lower noise pollution levels.  We also recently began setting the levels manually on most shoots which in some cases will have a dramatic effect at cutting down unwanted noise.  But credit to Sennheiser for the best mic ever made for this kind  of work, the MKH416, which is as good as it is expensive.  It's nice and directional so it can discriminate the wanted from unwanted sounds very well, and has great bass pickup without the annoying honky resonance peak you get in some others.
