Now for something completely different:
What are some staff and member favorite sex blogs that deal with sexual politics?  I don't want to bring people down who came here to innocently and sweetly wank, but some issues could use more visibility cough.

I'm pretty sure if someone is born in Britain and was taken abroad to have this done they would be prosecuted on their return.  How you get it banned in places where it's legal I don't know, any ideas?

Re: Sex blogs.

No worries about bringing the mood down. We can't wank all the time!

When I was 14-15 I got into an argument with a boyfriend I had about female genital mutilation in other cultures. He made the argument that it wasn't Western culture's place to take the moral highground and impose its viewpoints about this sort of thing. I was of the opinion that ok, yes, Western society does have an irritating superiority complex and habit of interferring in other people's affairs. After all, I believe in being tolerant of different practices, beliefs, etc.

However, when it comes to non-consensual genital mutilation... I just don't have any respect whatsoever. I can't really find a way to be ok or understanding of it. To me it's just a horrible, fucked up procedure that is utterly unjustifiable or defendable. I was really bothered by his (somehow patronising and overly academic) argument that we should respect other people's choices and practices because for many of the young girls, it's not a choice at all.

Haha, I guess I've not changed much since I was 14, really.

Anyway, pardon the ramble. I'll let you know if I think of any good blogs. I've not had so much time to surf the interwebs lately.

We've had several go-'rounds about cultural relativism over at Pharyngula, a blog I've mentioned here before. Not only FGM, but also a recent story about child "brides" in Yemen, has brought this question to the fore. My own take is that yes, we must respect the right to cultural self-determination, but that there are some inalienable human rights that cannot be violated, even under the cover of culture or religion. We all have the right to be secure in our persons; it's tragic that so many cultures and nations seem to forget that women and children are people too.

BTW, there was recently a Pharyngula thread about porn (and its enemies on the religious right), and somehow y'all's name came up; wonder who could've mentioned it?  wink

LMFAO :) how can something thats evolved into a what we call a dog be the 1st dog :) Stuff like this is entertaining but am I glad the internet is here with sites like TED http://www.ted.com/ to give a platform to people who really do have something to offer.

I've just had an idea. Africa is 5 years away from having universal broadband and then when developing countries are included, what was Western society becomes global society (we're slightly along that path already I think). People there can then do as we do and look at many ideas and concepts and decide what's in their own best interests. The experience of Iran seems to show that people then want to realize their new aspirations, not being genitally mutilated being just one of many.

Re: Sex blogs.

Guys (and girls), my blog got flagged and although I've requested a content review I doubt it will be unlocked. Wahhhh!

Can anyone recommend any blog hosting sites that are ok with adult content and affiliate linking?

I don't know all that much about RSS but you can subscribe via email, there's a little feature to do so just under the the 'Links' list in the sidebar.

If any other IFM contributors blog please let me know, I'd love to link you!

Thank you Giselle, pardon...  Charlotte, for your blogging! The possibility of connecting Contributors and their admirers is simply wonderful.

What I have difficulty  in accepting and what is very frustrating for me, is to be waiting months for  a new "folio" or a new "solo" without having  the  smallest sign of life from those models or contributors  I love in particular.

Forums are often nowhere near enough to make the "members-contributors" connection easy, 'cos threads must or should be of common interest and topics bind you to stick to the point,  whereas a blog, and/or a twitter account, better fit to hear something from your beloved ones nearly every day and to drop them a line  or a few sweet light words time to time, without any other motive than letting them know your love, thankfulness and admiration are still alive.

So thanks again Giselle aka Charlotte aka Valentine... I strongly hope some other IFM Contributors blog... I gonna subscribe to yours asap.

...and finger crossed, yeah!

Re: Sex blogs.

Kar0010-- There are many contributors who blog, and several who have more than one. There can be very large chunks of time between entries, however, not always daily or weekly chit chats. One of the things i have enjoyed is the links--amazing the cool stuff you can find!

Charlotte, I've been blogging a little bit for a little while, though not nearly as often as I'd like due to time restrictions and other commitments.

Yeah, by the name of Riverwild. It's a shame most of the content has been removed, it was educational stuff.
