I was going to start ranting on that other thread - but then thought ill probably get told off for that so i thought i chat to you over here...

YES! Kim Deal is the name of the bass player from the pixies, her and her twin sister kelley are the main driving force behind the breeders. Just like you, I think they are sexy as hell, in fact they are my favorite and most aspired to be women in the world. The are THE most in your face, disgusting, no holds barred people. And they make kick ass music. One of my favorite breeders stories is when they were last here in Australia kim was drinking whiskey the whole time on the bus and she was drunk and abusing everyone and ranting, so kelley gaffa taped her mouth closed and kim left it there and sulked for the day. I dont know why that story appeals to me so much but I love it...

How good is discovering music? particuarly when you stumble upon things like the breeders or the pixies.. and particuarly when the majority of music floating around these days is so average....

Those Pixies vocals are extraordinary, I don't think you could do them unless you had a tortured mind didn't you say you were in a garage band. Hows that going. I like making a noise myself. I like looking all round the world for music as well. Actually you might have to play the video again to get over it Anyway thats normal to them and I find that fascinating but I couldn't live in Japan surrounded by that type of music all the time I'd go mental!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I like jimmy hendrix and about a million other guitar singers musicians but I think this is the first time I've found that sort of kudos attractive in a woman. I don't know why. You told me about brat mobile and theres a few others but I don't really feel that with them. I think some of it is about ego, she spent ages happily playing bass guitar and backing vocals as part of a band. and then when she has her own band, if you look on the video she never sings to the camera in a sort of look at me I'm lovely way (Bono) but at times looks a little embarrassed, falls over and is suspended from a crane dressed as a Nun I don't think theres many people who make music that can't resist strutting so the fact she and the guy from the Pixies, don't seem to much at all, is nice I think.

A sercret source (okay just a guy who knows too much about this kinda stuff) told me that ego was the reason the Pixies broke up. I think it was mainly Frank Blacks ego though!

Actually I think I'm being a bit puritanical. I've just decided that it's OK to strutt like Mick Jagger but not get that, because people are complimenting you all the time, you then feel you have the power to be obnoxious to everyone around you. Max you handle compliments pretty well. If Frank Black has a problem, I think he should take some advice from you.

and seriosly how weird would it be, getting to a point where pretty much everyday is consumed by people telling you how great you are. i think about that when i am approaching bands to go, thanks man - you rock, like the other 50 people out the back of a venue. it would be pretty fucking weird.

ego is also a very weird thing.

yeah, the breeders definately rise above gender. its primarily because they are actually good. bands like bratmobile and stuff are more about the message and the energy - and giving it an outlet. unless you were looking for that kind of an outlet, it gets fucking annoying. ra, ra, ra. stop yelling at me. i get frustrated with its musical limitations constantly. the breeders make unbelievably music. they know no limitation. have you heard the latest sleater kinney album? it kinda does the same thing.

i reckon kim deal would have a huge ego too... i read an interview with her once and she was saying kurt cobain was a misogynist because he ojectified women, and i think it takes a fair amount of ego to make that kind of a judgement. You have to really believe you're right to openly critize someone like that. shes a pretty strong kinda lady. that takes self recognition. (not that theres anthing wrong with that) i guess thats where the line between self respect and arrogance is. she drinks alot. so id imagine she over steps it on occasion.

i like to strut. i do it when no one else is around. sometimes late at night when im walking home.

wow this anime pop is cool! i know what you mean about it being weird that its regular, seriosly imagine this in shopping malls. you'd feel like you were in rob zombies next movie, and your doom was approaching very soon. i had also never seen much of kim/kelley deal when they were young, and hadnt seen those clips. They are fucking hot. And cool. What a combination. (divine hammer definately wins)

maxs compliment handling is equally matched by her brilliant avatars... they are the coolst of cool

It's not really all that weird.

If you're pre-disposed to having a rather large ego, having someone tell you that you band is amazing is probably going to send you over the edge. But it really won't matter because your head will allow you to float.

I'm one of those self loathers. When someone would come up to me after the show and told me that we played great, I used to argue with them about how crap I thought it was. Which was probably the wrong thing to do. And when someone comes up to me today and says "dude, you were in that band? I loved that record" all I can think of is "wow, I hope you still don't listen to it".

Dunno... that's just my two cents.

But, if I'm being honest, the record we did is still something I'm proud of. Even if the sound of it and my cracking voice doesn't sound all that good fifteen years on.

I guess not too many kids can say they've played in front of hundreds of people and recorded something before they graduated high school.

Cle just told me about the thing she's doing with Dandy and asked for ideas. So when you come to edit it, please leave in all the bits with the whipped cream and the spanking in miniskirts, thanks I did say to look at all the ideas and then just do whatever you want and have a great time tho, which she's going to if she's with Dandy. I like Cle, she's such a nice relaxed person and it almost seems like I'm paying an entire AW sub just to post in her thread now, but I did go there to talk to her in the first place last sept. but it was just a day after she lost her interenet connection and I had to wait 3 months for her to come back. Anyway, saw a thing about Brunswick street, Fitzroy. I think that's where I'd stay 1st if I was to ever have a look round Melbourne.

I was smitten for a while after seeing the snowchics video at ISM. she's got beautiful eyes that hypnotizzzzzzzz now if we're talking about ego I have told her " I don't think I've hardly ever seen anyone who is quite as beautiful as you in my life." and she said thanks you made my day, like I was the first person to ever tell her that I hope when she's possibly a vet and had some kids she's still motivated to do some modelling because shes gonna be very attractive well into middle age. In fact I don't know why she hasn't done any other type of modelling as well, perhaps she has.

Well I talk to Jem as well, and I've asked Abby if theres a cheaper option and she said no. Cle I'm glad you like the myspace thing but as I've borne my soul on these forums it's supposed to be top secret here but I'll forgive you thing is, It's very difficult to keep away from someone you've been chatting to for months and haven't been able to contact directly. I was going to just send it to catt, but she liked it so I sent it to Dandy and then Li asked me, and then max, so as I was feeling a bit more confident about it I sent it to you as well. Oh no!!!!! I'm soooooo sorry blissed I had no idea..... I never consider things like that. you should be confident by the way!

i get my exam results on friday..... 2 more sleeps. ive been biting the skin around my nails out of nervousness this week, but im also excited, i just hope i managed to pass.... i put in alot of effort to try and catch up on all i missed, and then getting sick during exams too! ugh! just the effort..... i want it to be rewarded i can only cross my fingers, and you cross yours too please!!!!!

im not too sure how much slicing of animals i get to do this coming semester..... i only have one biology subject, and i think its about human biology this time (and i certainly DO NOT want to be slicing up dead bodies ugh!) and the other 3 subjects are chemistry, maths and physics..... lots of studying for me..... I could almost cry thinking about how hard this semster is going to be..... but I'll pull through, as long as I stay away from alcohol and late nights and getting sick, I'll be just peachy
