I found this article and it filled me with joy to see that another restrictions against Gays & Lesbians should soon fall.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/02 … ve-debate/
Same-sex marriages are now allowed in some states, with many other states giving legal status, and benefits, to same-sex couples. That in itself is proof-of-progress towards erasing the unjust, unfair, prejudice attitude toward Gays & Lesbians.
Now it looks like the American Military is finally waking-up to the realization of how unfair it is to punish someone for simply being who they are.
It took the military more than a hundred years to realize that blacks can serve just as well as whites in it's ranks. Looks like it is taking them almost as long to realize that Gays & Lesbians can serve just as well as straight people can. Why does it take so long to see the obvious?
Once the military finally allows Gay & Lesbians to serve openly in it's ranks, thus achieving the equality that has been denied them for years, the rest of the country will began to see how stupid it is to oppose a persons based solely on that person's sexual preferences
To me, disliking someone for being a Gay man or a Lesbian, is the same as disliking someone for the color of their skin. I think for a super large organization like the U.S. military to recognized their mistakes, and to change it, will advance the Gay & Lesbian status and help reduce the heart ship they have been fighting for years.
Their fight for equality is not over yet....but it is moving in a positive direction.

I read this and wondered why anyone would bother apposing such an antiquated policy but then I read the comments, holy fuck! I am absolutely astounded that people like this exist. I am astounded that AIDS was mentioned. I am astounded that the comments were so overwhelmingly, outwardly and hysterically homophobic. I am presuming this is just indicative of that particular news media.

Rupert Murdoch started and still runs fox news.
Gay bashing is just unempathic inconsiderate to cruel stupid bullying from people, some of whom want their own sexuality and sexual choices enshrined.

Well said Blissed!
Bobby, you are right to be angry. Gays & Lesbians here in America are fighting hard just to get what they should already have.
But everyday, forward progress it being made. Everyday, more and more people choose to cast-off their prejudice and jettison their destructive homophobic attitudes. I personally, and actively, support gay rights. And I am glad of the progress we are making.
That brings me to a question. Does the Australian military allows Gays & Lesbians to serve?
I have spent a few years in Europe, and it was obvious that the Europeans have a much more open attitude towards homosexuals. From what I've seen, they could not care less about someone's sexual preferences. I liked that! Germany does not have a problem with Gays & Lesbians in their military.
But I wonder about Australia. Are homosexuals in Australia fighting the same fight that is being fought here in America for equality?

Thank-you Blissed for that web-link. That was exactly what I needed for a project I am working on.
That report gave documented proof that; homosexuals, serving in a professional military organization, to include combat units with international commitments, does not present any problems to said units.
I just hope the U.S. military will reach the same conclusion soon.
Thanks again Blissed

Yes in Australia you can serve openly. Russia is the only big nation I know off hand that doesn't have an open policy, unless they're at war, funny that. I wonder about China, does anyone know?

China seems like a pretty closed society really and how things are there is only hinted at in an article from the same website I got the last one from. http://www.palmcenter.org/press/dadt/re … _by_taiwan
Looks like they may have no clear written policy.

Yeah, Bobby, if it makes you feel any better about the comments... Fox news have a reputation of having a bias towards conservative, right wing audiences so I reassure myself that those comments are just a condensed mass of ugh because stupid sticks to stupid.
