This Just In...

...porn, of all things, is apparently good for society! I mean, we all knew that already, of course, but it's nice to have (you should pardon the expression) hard data. wink

I'm not sure I would call that hard data, it is perhaps a little loose, but then I always thought that was a good quality too wink

I'm feeling super-pedantic and argumentative today (shitty day at work) so I've decided to take it out on you dauphinb2 smile.

Firstly as someone once said there are lies, damned lies and statistics and I would like to know how those findings were compiled.  I'm very sceptical about their voracity.   Secondly (super-pedant bit) I'm going to use my old definition and say that the difference between porn and eroticism is that porn debases and eroticism celebrates.  Anything which debases or degrades any human being is inherintly evil and no society can flourish under its influence.  The prejudices, falacies and negative sexual propaganda perpetuated by conventional pornography is a threat to the sexual well-being of Western society and the sooner such garbage is driven off the World Wide Web by sites like IFM the healthier we will all be.

(Sings:  "Don't you know, I'm talking 'bout a revolution....").

Ahhhh.  I feel better now.  Thanks dauphinb2 smile.

Re: This Just In...

... and I come in to add a hearty AMEN!

I was just talking about this at a breakfast meeting (can y'all believe that I brought up IFM in a breakfast meeting?!) and said basically the same things you just said, Elf.

interestingly, I could not get my colleague to look at the site or even take the  down the url, because he felt so wary that it was more of the same.

I should have asked Li or Max first -- this colleague is the publisher of a global political weekly -- I was mostly initiating the discussion because I want someone in my own physical sphere with whom to talk about IFM and related sites -- but to me it IS revolutionary, what y'all are doing IS tranformative (and transgressive) and I thought it deserved some editorial focus.

Keep working on him Siobhan.  IFM is sexual politics.

Rest assured, I posted the link just for amusement's sake, and not because I thought it proved anything serious.

Elfman wrote:

You mean veracity? (He who lives by pedantry... wink) Seriously, I think the decline in rape is pretty well documented. Unfortunately, we in the U.S. have got a lot of practice in keeping crime statistics, and we're pretty good at it. The link to porn was never anything but that one author's personal speculation, as even he admitted. OTOH, while this news really doesn't prove "porn is good for society" (as I jokingly put it), it does tend to discredit (though not disprove) the old Edwin Mease[1] notion that porn causes rape. That is, porn has become vastly more available since Mease's report, and the predicted effect -- increased rates of violent rape -- has not materialized.

And BTW, I take your point about the difference between porn and erotica... but here in the U.S., at least, all of the above is much more available than it was in the late 70s and early 80s.

De nada! smile

[1] Note: For those who don't know (and didn't follow the link), Edwin Mease (or maybe it was Meese?) was Ronald Reagan's Attorney General. He lead a commission on the societal effects of pornograpy that found it responsible for all sorts of social ills, including the assertion that porn was a contribution cause of rape.

Ah.  Hoist by my owm petard!!! smile.

You know, I puzzled over "voracity" as well, thinking it should read "veracity," but there was something so lovely about it, so seemingly fit, and THEN I realized that I, too, am generally skeptical of voracity, especially when it's swaddled in the trappings of research. Elfman, might you have been making a double entendre?

While I heartily endorse the rest of your post, I did want to elaborate on how problematic those statistics are. The key issue is how the respondents and the surveyors define rape, or perhaps more fundamentally what they think of when talking about it. Rape is often considered only or primarily to be a violent crime committed by strangers, or a crime that is always involves violence (appart from the rape itself, of course, which is inherently violent). Without knowing more about that aspect of these statistics it is impossible to know what kind(s) of rape may have declined significantly, and whether those results generalize to other kinds of rape.

Re: This Just In...

Back to basic joys...cold hands on warm thighs... As a new-comer (literally) to IFM, I can only express myself, with appreciation for the courageous women who are sharing their bodies and passions with me...

A Sonnet for the Women of IFM.

To bathe yourself in joyous moans & sighs,
Your hands tease like hummingbirds on rose-flowers,
In shadows, birds sing deep between your thighs,
Wet & subtle music, a blur of fingers, sacred powers.
You explore tender passion, women delicious & bold,
To share discoveries & twisting pleasures,
I kiss you, with a camera's eye, truth be told,
Our eyes meet & I ache to lick your treasures.
In awe, my own hands listen and respond,
To knead & pull, my solid cello prick,
To compose a dark & lush orgasmic song,
To build my sweet release, so white & thick.

Courageous women, I bless you, as my body craves,
I come & come, with a rush of oceans waves.

Welcome berloioz.  That's very good.  Well done.  Ithink we are going to have to make you IFM's official poet laureate.

Re: This Just In...

another poem for the joy of it...

Violet Dream by Minka

Minka’s jeans & tank top disappear
By 3:40, only panties linger.
Soon they’re gone too.

Her right hand kneads, lightly
On clitoris, she polishes
Like a wolf tongue licking
An agate stone.

At 5:45, Minka’s left hand,
unsatisfied with caresses
On thigh, belly, & breasts,
Burrows deep, a badger
relentless, frantic.

Ten fingers accelerate to 8:08.
The female body convulses
A thunderstorm,
A lightening strike,
A direct hit by a megalodon.
Minka twists & curls,
In passion’s jaws,
Pulled under blood & lust,
Fully awake, made sacred
By animal ancestors.

Re: This Just In...

ok, one more...

Liandra’s Indulgence

Liandra listens,
To her own warm breath,
And the nude dancer’s breath.
Skin brushes lightly on skin,
Liandra leans back,
Face between open thighs,
She smells the dancer’s wetness,
Wants to lick labial folds,
Wants to nuzzle into her,
To taste her desire.

White panties contain her tender
Moisture and motion,
Leaving the details to imagination,
I watch, and ache to see
Liandra’s breasts, without clothes
Swaying with her orgasms.
I video my own smooth erection,
my strong bursts of milk,
And I play the videos together,
To watch myself come with Liandra.
