Starting in about 10 years time

There's been a lot of talk on the forum about bringing up children which people take very very seriously and yet when considering the possible future those people will inhabit, even the inevitable possibilities are very often treated as frivolous or a joke.

What's inevitable is aware and self aware machine intelligence and companionship and agile fluid elegant physical motion. mmmmmm what are humans most interested in, be honest.

Don't spend too long thinking about it

It's not a difficult question to answer :)

Times up!!

Robots won't invade and kill us off, just seduce us away from having children.
If real sex can't compete then a lot of baby making activity is going to disappear.

Though an eventual earth dwelling population of 2 billion in the 22nd century probably wouldn't be a bad thing.

Re: Starting in about 10 years time

At the age of 86, three always-ready always young sexbots is gonna be more then any diggy ticker can handle smile But do they all have to look like Kelly Brook? Nothing wrong with her, of course, but I'm keen on variety... How 'bout one Kelly Brook, one Keeley Hazell and one Nurse Helga? (You know, to push me around in my wheelchair tongue)

What concerns me, having witnessed some of the world's most advanced industrial technologie breaking down with no particular reason, is that those things do are gonne have a down time... If you'd count a failure rate of 0.5% (in comparison, the first generation of Xbox 360 had a failure rate of 3%), and a usage rate of 4-5 times a week (or maybe that would be just me smile), lovely Kelly's gonna freeze up at least once a year... Who are you gonna call if you're stuck inbetween a couple very attractive robotic thighs smile Or maybe I've just grown to mistrust machines...

Surely, the lonely hearts are gonna be very happy with this kind of companionship. But even if the real deal is no match for robotic intercourse, there's a lot of stuff about sex that's gonna be icky in robotic form. I mean, anyone with an IQ over 75's gonna realize Kelly's saying those sweet words not because she loves you, but because she's programmed to. Giving her an orgasm's gonna be literally a question of which buttons to push, and getting her to go down is merely gonna be a command.  The more I think of it this way, the more I find that the main reasons I like sex just don't apply here, and the more I feel I'd REALLY prefer the real stuff... Such robots might be the ultimate sex toy, but in the end, many Disney movies despite, it's gonna be just another cold, heartless machine... I do hope people in the future will feel the same way.
