Hey all, I wanted to share this with you. It's a big read but a worthwhile one. It was originally published in a magazine called "Arthur" but now seems to have vanished from their archives. However, after a bit of googling, I was able to find the article in someone's blog. Just click on the link, ignore the quotes grabbed from the article and scroll down to the actual article itself.
I started re-reading it on the train to work today and am reminded of why I love Alan Moore. His humor, is unapologetic stances on things, his bravery. His pornographic graphic novel "Lost Girls" is ground breaking and this is the article that A. Persuaded me to shell out my hard earned moolah on a copy of Lost Girls for myself and B. Really made concrete my belief that porn should and can be art.
It's a long read but a fun one. Obviously Alan Moore does not have the final word on all of this - he is a writer, not a traditional academic... but I loved this article when I first read it and am loving it a second time around.
Enough babbling, here is the article itself (and if you like it, I'd suggest saving it to your computer in case it vanishes from this site too):

'Lost Girls' is amazing. Couldn't afford a copy, so I had to make do with downloading it from torrent. Reading a comic on a computer screen completely sucks, but I still got the just of it. Hopefully they'll release a more affordable paperback version one of these days.
But yeah, I totally agree that it demonstrates that "porn" can be elevated to the level of meaningful art.
