I just downloaded Inkscape for Mac, it's a good vector drawing graphics program thats totally free, not $300 or $50 or $10 but FREE! unless of course by downloading it my computer is now part of a giant criminal botnet,

Yak!! that looks horrible! not the pic the design. I found Gimp and Inkscape, though free, were worse than clunky to use. With design software it has to let you try out lots of ideas quickly until you develop a design. Gimp and Inkscape just won't let you do that. It's OK if you just want to add text to a pic and your not worried too much about what it looks like.
