please excuse my ramblings yet again. march 2009. maybe it's just me, but really poignant moments seem to become fewer & farther between as one ages.
the passion in my life for the last 30 odd years has been the music of bob dylan...he played in stockholm the other day & gave a live debut to "billy"... a song he wrote nearly 40 years ago...so what. the 2 ply homebrand facial tissues took a real hammering. then i came here and saw leda had said hi. talk about a bumbling mess ! march 2009 is now firmly entrenched in my failing memory. thanks everyone here - your generous spirit and courage is quite simply inspirational. "if there is eternity i'd love you there again" (bob dylan).

Leda did a really good interview didn't she,
and I love some of Bob Dylans stuff especially tambourine man, this is my favourite video of him in the days when he didn't sound like a goat

sorry you felt the need to offer that opinion blissed - smily face or not. bet you've never listened to any bob stuff not on the radio. bob is too confronting for some.....the simple fact is "i used to care, but things have changed" (bob dylan).

Hey man, Blissed is only joking, and I'd have to admit I do have a bit of a goat fetish and they kind of swoon when I'm singing, which is great.
Because you joke about something doesn't mean you hate it, it can be quite the opposite, if you have kids they say and do things that make you laugh but you don't hate them.
Anyway, Like I said I love some of Bob Dylan's stuff, pretty much all of it's available on the net, he's a great song writer and lyricist.
Yes, to dance beneath the diamond sky with one hand waving free,
Silhouetted by the sea, circled by the circus sands,
With all memory and fate driven deep beneath the waves,
Let me forget about today until tomorrow..
The spirit in those lyrics are just great.

The only time I didn't enjoy hearing Dylan sing was in the mid-80s when he adopted a much higher register – it sounded sentimental and weak, and the mostly crap lyrics didn't help. This decade has been the best Dylan decade since the seventies. 'Mississippi' is officially the best song about sexual love in old age (its hopes, its inhibitions, its emotional baggage, its torment) ever written.

I think he tries out a lot of things and what he's doing here works for me, it's quite a nice song too.

He's actually getting a little close to rapping there.

I think Bob's always sounded like a goat but no one minds because it's so wonderful to sing along to Mr Jones when someone doesn't get you!

Being compared to a goat isn't a bad thing. Goats are special. They can climb up really tall trees. And they're sexually magnetic too - Pan was half goat, and he had a lot of success with the ladies.
Notice the uncanny similarities to Bob's acoustic stuff: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06CvUjLgK5g
P.S. I love Bob, especially around the John Wesley Harding era. Oh, and Desire. That's a truly great album.

There's nothing more sexually magnetic than the scent of a rutting goat. Mmm-mmm.

thanks all for your thoughts on bob. i have no illusions about my bob fetish blissed - it's just that i basically live my life taking considerable guidance from what he has experienced & sings about (sad i suppose...but i have found contentment in dealing with things his way). the only forum i've been part of in the past was "the supersite" dealing with dylan stuff. i was permanently banned last october (i still can't comprehend why) so i don't get to talk about bob these days. one thing i learnt though - listening or liking bob is inconsequential - when basic financial greed takes over, a site should look at themselves. some are just too self-centred.....not here though. thanks again. if i may add - listen to some "oh mercy" midnightcat. "ring them bells" through to "disease of conceit"..
in the couple of blocks i live in, nothing comes close to the sheer exhilaration i feel when listening to bob stuff like this. sorry leda, but you'll always be second-best to bob. best wishes to all.

Do you know that if you turned your house into the church of Bob Dylan you wouldn't pay any local taxes and there are lots of other tax breaks too :)
Actually Bob said himself he's not a messiah, he just wrote some songs, but he chose to expressed himself and had something to say thats had a good positive effect on a lot of people while giving them pleasure. Writing a book seems to be the benchmark of credibility, but being a singer doesn't mean what you say has less value or is less credible than someone who wrote a book, in fact if you have something to say, placing your words within the emotional context of your music can be very powerful.
That doesn't include everyone who writes a song tho :)

OH MERCY is very good, Yetagain, and marked Dylan's emergence from a long phase of lousy records. I love 'Man in the Long Black Coat' and 'Shooting Star'.

i wholeheartedly agree midnight cat - there were some awful moments there (in my opinion). to be honest though, i was really trying to touch on the "banned" thing rather than bob. this internet & mobile phone msn stuff can be the most magnificent triumph of humans.....or a formula for mayhem. the ease & anonimity of it all can and does breed pretence, deception, hostility, self-indulgence & dismissiveness. posts can be culled. "out-of-line" members can be approached by moderators. i will never see the reason for "banning"....it's simply the simple, unchallengable option. i'll leave bob alone now - this should be about the superb stuff here.

This forum is a social space and like a pub someone very occasionally has to be thrown out after a polite request asking them to respect their surroundings has failed, and you make the judgement that their going to be unmanageable. Unlike a pub though this is a unique internet space where half the posters are anonymous and half are not and have shared a pleasurable intimate experience. So after making a post from the protection of his anonymity where he referred directly to a contributer and called himself Mr Excrement, I decided he had to leave.

It's not easy moderating the forums, that's why we asked Blissed to do it. As much as I'd like to know what Mr Excrement had to say for himself I trust there was a very good reason for him to be banned not least the fact Blissed has been doing a good job of this for a while now.

but certainly he/she was only jokingly debasing his/herself in reaction to my post. moderating anything in this snipering free-for-all medium is an onerous task & i certainly have nothing but respect for anyone willing to take on the duty...but i feel strongly about "banning"....i would expect blissed & bobby have never faced the sole-destroying punishment of being swept aside as if you didn't have the right to exist. was the member told that the line had been crossed...asked to withdraw the post.....warned of the possibility of being banned ? there must certainly have been far more communication to blissed than the posts that appeared here - i was banned from a place i idolised - but the site moderators of any site have that supreme power to banish anyone for basically any perceived misdemeanour (real or not). i can't help feeling natural justice has slipped by us with this decision. sadly, it's just the way it is. regards.

Ha ha I think your taking this way too seriously, I liken it to a member of the bar staff throwing someone out of a pub, it's not the end of the world, there are plenty of other places to go and yes I have been thrown out of a pub. I only get a company car and $625,000 a year to do this, I haven't got time to chase errant posters around.

Excuse me! :) but the conversation involved a contributor pissing on him when he's dead, As I said at the time I wasn't happy about the nature of Sequoia's attack on him but your living in fairy land if you think a directly abusive post like that is gonna stay in the forum.

i will obviously withdraw blissed. there's another banning looming on the horizon - it's okay - i'm gone anyway. you apparently aren't comfortable moderating here....you & bobby certainly don't qualify for sainthood for doing the job. if you can equate "banning" with being "thrown out of a pub" my opinion is totally wasted at this forum. no human being should ever believe that the censure of another (without profound reason) could possibly be taken "too seriously".

Just because someone appears on an erotic site doesn't mean that space is fair game for abuse, in fact quite the reverse, your entitled to respect, kudos and a safe space in which to post your views if you want to and meet your audience in an atmosphere that if possible allows intelligent debate. maintaining that is the profound reason and the reason why I'm perfectly comfortable moderating the forum. If you honestly don't think thats a profound reason and your subconscious can't make the shift into another paradigm then yes you are probably better off not posting until it can.

firstly - i can't see how moderators can in all honesty be major posters in forums. do you blissed (and sidekick bobby) think individuals will really express heartfelt opinions here if they know they contradict the views you two hold...and are likely to be attacked for expressing same? you can't wear more than one hat at a time. i read the post by goat_weed that set this thing off - and it was nothing like the heinous stuff you're presenting here blissed....i took exception to it but now you've deleted it nobody can ever form a qualified opinion. and bobby, your corny bob jokes would indicate you should accept that voluntary retirement sooner rather than later. and yes, mr. jones, i certanly got you. cheers.

Yetagain, you got no respect, and you are hereby thrown out on your arse.

Dude, if I took retirement you wouldn't have updates. I'm not a moderator anymore but I do know that hat is a particular pain in the arse. I will now put on my contributor hat if that's okay with you and say that if I were to come to a forum and read the post that Goatweed wrote I would think twice about putting myself on this site. And that is exactly why he got banned.
But you don't really give a fuck do you? You're just a troll and you're pissed that the crazy guy you were all prepped to have flame wars with got banned! Well I'll take the bait, I'm so in the mood for conflict. In fact just email me, that way Blissed wont have to ban me too.
And as an aside I am NOT a Mr, that is very important thankyou.
