I wonder if anyone else out there would like to see IFM switch the primary camera view to the "foot of the bed" view (at about a 45 degree angle) for the mainstay of the solo stuff. I think IFM produces some great stuff, but the semi-close views and angled views, which are more common in the homemade stuff, are much hotter.

I think you're being a "backseat driver." I have to believe, and the overwhelming number of films bear this out, that the director shoots and cuts the films in the optimum manner insofar as portraying the ladies, capturing the light and concentrating on face and hands when their erotic sensibilities move them.

It seems like the studio scenes are shot simultaneously with three cameras, each with a zoom lens available. This gives the editor a tremendous variety of angles from which to choose, when putting together one episode. It also facilitates re-issuing some of these films, with a different editorial or artistic emphasis from that of the original. It also facilitates showing the same scene, sequentially three times, so the viewer gets a ringside shot of her from the various angles.
Yep, you can get a great view of her facial contortions as she has her orgasm, and then you could get a look at her breasts turning pink, and then a great close-up of her contractions. And, of course, the mandatory full-body shot of her writhing about and convulsing with pleasure. Four views of one orgasm -- not too bad.
I am a photographer, (still, not video) and that's how I'd shoot one of these scenes, and that seems to be the way they're doing it. Pretty good stuff. Now, about the lighting...
