I just did a quick tally on the Ifeelmyself sub-forum and of the first 30 (most current) topics, they have been read 19,322 times and they have only produced 527 replies. That works out to 2.7% of the readers respond. I find that figure to be exceptionally low.
Is everybody just shy or are other non-sex forums just more talkative?

Well, any one reply might correspond to a number of reads, but all the same, a games forum I frequent had an average of 11.2% response to view ratio on the first page (50 threads), the total is 12.8%.
So maybe we are slow to respond here, but I think it might have to to with the topic at hand also. It's easier to just splurge nonsense in a less serious environment with fewer restrictions about being sensitive to people's feelings.

As is the case on any and all good forums I've ever been to, including the games forum mentioned, so I don't think that would account for the low response ratio here (if the ratio is indeed abnormally low).

I suppose that is a valid point and a forum on sex as opposed to PT Cruisers would probably draw a lot more readers.
It also just occurred to me because of the time frames, somebody may forget they asked a question and forget to go back the following day to finish the conversation. I forget that some of you are 14 hours ahead of me, others are 5 to 7, and realatively few are even close to my time zone and awake when I am.

voyeurs. everyone likes to watch, but few have the guts to participate. most people have few spaces like this in their lives where they can speak openly about sex, what gets them hot, etc. this forum is probably a shock to most of them.

I really don't think that most people who willingly enter a site called "I Feel Myself" would be terribly shocked by anything going on in the forums, but I do agree that there is probably a certain hesitation about participating in discussions about orgasms, masturbation and so on, because all too many people have been indoctrinated with the idea that these are things that one mustn't speak of. What I fail to see is how these inhibitions can come into play in an anonymous internet forum.
On the other hand, I would like to think that it's the sophistication and eloquence of the discussions here that intimidate people into silence .

I don't think those inhibitions are going to be immediately loosened by anonymity alone. If you've been taught all your life to not, never, ever under any circumstances, talk about sex, masturbation and orgasms, then whether or not you know the people you talk to is in my opinion a somewhat secondary concern, it will always be awkward and embarrassing to discuss these things.
That said, I agree that being anonymous will help loosen the inhibitions, but it's also important to be shown that it isn't shameful to talk about sex and your own sexuality, and that noone is going to make fun of or chastise you for talking about those things.

Ya, normal conversation is one thing, I just think more members could take the time to add a few comments on the contributers submissions, I am sure that most would like some type of feedback once in a while. And I probably don't say as much as I should.

Speaking for myself here, I'm quite honestly a tiny bit scared of commenting too much on the submissions because I'm afraid I'll say something not nice, in which case the rules (unwritten or otherwise) tell me I shouldn't say anything at all. That is not to say I would ever say that someone is unattractive, that they turn me off, or that they have a perverted sexuality (other than in a fiendishly attractive way), but I'm worried I'd get into particularities that some contributors might be offended by, even if they aren't the specific target of my criticism. So I usually limit myself to rather generic praise of those contributions I for one reason or other find particularly sexy*, and mostly in other people's threads.
* This is always with a slightly guilty conscience because I can't honestly give all the contributors the praise they so well derserve. But I always hope, and believe that to each his own, so someone else will hopefully praise those I neglect.

Well said Nowaysis, I suppose I'm much the same way. I am too diplomatic to infer I didn't like somebody, but I'm sure, like others, I have my favorites based on actions, sounds, smile, body shape, etc.

I don't claim to be an expert on internet forums but from the few I've known I would say that the standard of debate on this one is unusualy high. I think that the regular contributors have come to know and respect each other well enough by now to give the benefit of the doubt if one us were to say something which could be mis-interpreted as slightly offensive or hurtfull. Although we all do our best to welcome new members who contribute to the forum some people might feel a little inhibited about joining the community. Since most of us seem to have very similar opinions on most matters they might feel that their opinions would not be welcomed if they differed from the status-quo. That would be a pity as the forum needs controversy to remain interesting (so long as we continue to debate respectfully).

Yes, on second thought I do believe that Nowaysis is correct in his assertion that an inhibition is an inhibition no matter what avenue of expression is available. Perhaps we're actually helping someone here, by showing that it is quite alright to talk about these things. I mean, it's not like we're all drooling perverts, is it?
Seriously, I think it should be fairly obvious to anyone that we are quite normal people who happen to like discussing sex and watching women masturbate. I don't see any conflict in that statement.
As for the topic of specific comments, I've been thinking along Ashmedi's lines, that perhaps we don't give enough credit where credit is due, as it were. I most definitely have my favourites, but so far I can honestly say that I have appreciated every single contribution ... the problem then being of course actually *commenting* on every single contribution. I believe that the ones I have commented on has given me another sensation in additon to the purely sexual one, most often thanks to the "agonette's" (we still haven't solved the terminology thing, have we ?) personality or various artistic or "kinky" touches. One contribution that I haven't commented on is Lia's, and she is a really good example of what I mean: lots of personality and individuality, coupled with really hot sexuality. Those are the ones that stick in my mind and which I tend to want to post about.

My guess, would be that Forum participants here are outside the Norm. Most people that I know are not "comfortable" talking about sex, politics, or anything controversal in nature.
I fail to understand why people are so afraid to speak thier mind here? As long as you respect the other posters. (ie No personal attacks) Granted, I as well. Watch what I say. Due to my Non progressive ideology. <I don't want to get banned because I personly hold a libertarian mind frame.>

Where as most of the regular contributors on the forum hold very similar views on most issues so far discussed I fervantly hope that anyone holding opinions which differ from those of the majority would feel comfortable expressing them here. Of course such views would probably draw a lot of opposition and contributors must expect that but any such opposition should and must be respectfully worded. Expressing the majority view does not give anyone the right to be less respectful of contrary opinions than those who express a minority view.
I don't want to get banned because I personly hold a libertarian mind frame.
Nor would I want to see you banned msn. Although you and I have differed in our opinions at times I have great respect for you and your views and you have always shown equal respect for mine. As a result we can still share a joke and converse like the reasonable, inteligent men we both are. What's important here is not the views any of us might express but the way that we express them. I assure you that if I ever felt that you or any contributor was being victimised for simply holding a minority view rather than because of the manner in which they expressed that view I would have no hesitation in defending them.

Dear God. Much as I loved him and his incestual possessions, Bob always scared the living shit out of me. I still twitch and shudder every time I see that sinister, rapacious leer of his. That bit in Fire Walk With Me, when you suddenly see him under the bed - I always inevitably lose complete control and actually scream. Every time I re-watch him and Coop laughing demonically at each other at the end of the series (that splendid "How's Annie?" sequence), I still chortle with a combination of glee and absolute horror. Ahh, sweet sweet Bob. I adored Twin Peaks. I still have annual cherry pie and coffee addled TP drinking games.

I take it that we all know that Frank Silva who played that role wasn't an actor but one of the series stage dressers. Weird thing is that in Britain (as far as I know) the series have only ever been repeated once. That was on a cable channel I didn't have. Guess I'm going to have to go out and buy the DVDs.

Speaking one's mind is sometimes a tricky proposition. While I'm not afraid of doing so, I try to take great care as far as *how" I speak my mind. The advantages of an Internet forum are obvious: the anonymity grants a level of freedom of speech that is virtually unattainable anywhere else. On the other hand, tests have been made in order to determine how people react to various statements "live" and via for instance e-mails, and it was invariably found that an opinion stated in writing had a much greater chance of annoying the recipient than the same opinion expressed verbally. No matter how many smilies and the like one uses (and they certainly are very useful), one must not underestimate the power of facial expression, body language and vocal inflection. Without these, one has to be extremely careful about the wording itself. I don't mind this, because I like writing, and if I have something to say that may not be very popular, I'll go ahead and say it anyway ... but obviously in a civilised way.
As for people who might be hesitant about starting to write in this forum, I can only speak for myself. I was *very* hesitant, for a reason that might not have occurred to many of you: there seemed to be such a camraderie here already, between Elfman, Ashmedi, Blissed, MSNevil, Cynicism, Nowaysis etc, that it actually felt like I was butting in on a private conversation! In the end though, I felt that the level of discussion here was so unique that I wanted to give it a shot. Most forums I've seen are ... unimpressive (see how careful I am about the wording ) and no matter how interested I am in the topics discussed, I don't feel like taking part, because the people seem so dull in every sense of the word.
I am a fanatic on one subject only: free speech. If someone wants to say something, say it, and even if it is something horrendous about me, I'll defend your right to say it ... as long as you say it in a civilised way. I can live with "Burlesque is one annoying bastard, because ...", provided that the "because" is followed by relevant motivation. "Bastard" may not be very polite, but I think you get my drift.
I love David Lynch. I saw "Mulholland Drive" for the fourth time last night, and I think I'm actually beginning to understand it. Well, parts of it, anyway.

As for twin peaks...I've never seen it I think I'll check it out these holidays as it comes so highly recommended.
You have to be a bit mad, twisted and weird to like Twin Peaks Liandra. From what I've learnt about you in the last couple of months I think you'll find it right up your street
(I love the description I once heard of David Lynch. "James Stewart from Mars").

oops, I'm guilty ! Idon't read the forum comments as much as I would like, just plain lazy most times. I have some, hot, voyeuristic ideas to share for the gorgeous girls. Shy, is a good word. I have a question ? Do the girls come up with their own ideas for their IFM'S, or are they given do's and don't ?

We forgive you, now start talking
I believe the girls are given free rein as it is their orgasm, and they do what works for them. That is one of the things that sets this site apart from mainstream, no direction, No talking in the background.
