Eurovision Song Contest

I know not that many of the people here are actually from Europe, but since Lordi, the monsters from Finland won, I feel like I just have to make a thread about it.

Hard! Rock! Hallelujah! cool

Re: Eurovision Song Contest

I think it's funny. I had never paid any attention to where you were from. You were just another IFM friend. I had to look twice to work out why you wrote that.

IFM = International Friends who like watching female Masturbation? Doesn't quite flow, does it?

Re: Eurovision Song Contest

Well, Nowaysis, We're from Europe actually. And worse still, we always plan a fun weekend out with friends when the Songfestival is on. This time we've chosen a recreational house at Drenthe - eastern part of The Netherlands - to celebrate the grotesque happening that used to have something to do with music.

The weekend was great, the evening itself was a disaster in my view. O, where are the days of Abba? We should have had Agnetha herself here on IFM! Methinks Mister Lordi wouldn't be a great contributor to the erotic world in general... But eh, we're not vikings...

Re: Eurovision Song Contest

All kinds of respect to Björn and Benny for writing some of the most classic pop songs of the 70's and early 80's, but why oh why would I want to have the same barely altered stuff regurgitated year after year in what is supposed to be a contest of music and musical prowess? Which in itself is a farcical idea, assuming that music is an art form, but works thanks to the possibility of voting for the stupidest song, the song with the worst choreography, the song with the worst singer, the song with the skimpiest outfit; whatever grabs your attention and makes the song stand out from the rest of the streamlined crap that is Eurovision.

Just my two pence/cents/ören.

Re: Eurovision Song Contest

I'm very far from being a metal or hard rock fan, but I still like the fact that Lordi won, because FINALLY something different came out of that contest. Perhaps in future there will actually be some variety to the music, and perhaps big stars will want to take part again. I was also rather thrilled that taTu amost won a few years ago. Anything to breathe life into the stale Eurovision institution!
