There are lots of people living in America or who have lived there here in the forum. What can be done about this TV clip from a Jackass program of Snakes being jumped on and injured in a pool. The people doing it think their really cool and it's all really funny, I think their cretins.

Jackass is made by Dickhouse productions based in LA
I don't like the way the animals were handled let alone the fact that any that weren't injured were very definitely stressed. Thats not even mentioning the fact that it has the legitimacy of a TV show and what example it sets to people who might copy them. Can the individuals who run the company be prosecuted, this really needs reporting to someone official but I'm in England and I don't really know how. there is no Email address for the ASPCA and the Humane society gave me a link that is out of date, I really need an email addy for the ASPCA or some kind of official to report it to.
Hoping to hear from somebody
Thanks

Blissed my friend,
You know, this is the kind of stuff that makes me cringe at being male, not to mention being an American. Try these people:

Also, this is the email for the SPCA in Los Angeles (SPCALA):

Jerry Brown is the Attorney General in California, I am rather certain he would take a very dim view of this clip, here is a link to his offices:

You know, considering that the climate here is such that waterboarding people is considered cool, who knows what can be done... but appropriate missive by me off to the people I linked to.
Here is a link to the New Rhythm and Blues Quartet's commentary on American TV, why this sort of thing happens here, not to mention explaining why we re-elected Bush.

Hey thanks momentextase, I'm just off to work now but I'll get into those links when I get back and see how far I can take it, thanks very much! :)
I will say tho that the 1st reaction I got back from the humane society is that these videos be taken off youtube and that it should be "cleaned up" How do we find out about the abuse otherwise, that goes for the effects of war and pretty much anything unpleasant, not that I want to see these things all the time, but I think we should see the truth uncensored and then I can try and do something about it, otherwise I'm ignorant of the awful things people can do and I'm living in a bit of a dream world like people were before the internet came along.
Anyway, it's off to work I go and thanks very much :)

I am not a fan of censorship... at all.
I would rather have and leave everything in the open, for all to become aware of, comment on, and be nauseated by.
Anyway, in this case, my queries are not directed at youtube, but requests to legal officials and animal rights groups that the matter be looked into, and action taken if warrented. It seems to me that laws may have been violated in this case, not to mention standards that the entertainment trade has set for themselves, but I am no expert.. hence the query. I don't care what these goons do to themselves, if some moron wants to copy this idiot stunt... let Darwin rule... but leave the animals out of it.
I think it is all a moot point really, I think "Jackass" got so much heat that MTV canceled it???

blissed,
SPCALA Tipline- To report animal cruelty in Southern California, please call the Cruelty Tipline 1-800-540-SPCA.
I can assure you that there are legions of Californians and Americans that find that kind of behavior disgusting, and abhorrent. The kind of ridiculous entertainment that Johnny Knoxville, and his gang of miscreants have been peddling on cable TV has been falling out of favor for some time now (thank god). That's the only time I've seen or heard of them doing anything cruel to animals. They became notorious mostly for beating themselves up.

kirejos thanks for the number :) looks like I'm gonna have to pick up a phone on this. Someone from the California Animal Control Directors' Association suggest I contact PETA who have links with some of the Jackass actors so I have. I think they will say that like most of their stuff it was a carefully stage managed stunt to camera and no animals where harmed. But I've pre-empted that by saying that if no animals were harmed, they were still in a chaotic situation where they could have been hurt and fearful and stressed and doing their best to try and leave the pool. They were handled too in a way that wasn’t cool and shown enough disrespect that if copied by other people would very likely lead to abuse.
I found a job ad for an intern to work at Dickhouse productions who make Jackass and as you might expect the reality is very different to the bunch of miscreants image, they want someone who "is incredibly organized" and " has a knack for very detail-oriented tasks" doesn't look like they want a jackass then :) Lol

Yeah, I think your best bet would be with PETA, they have some clout in the entertainment industry with all of their celebrity spokespeople and endorsements. And they're reputation preceeds them, they're certainly not afraid to embarrass people/organizations when necessary. All it might take from them is one phone call- problem solved.

And that is exactly the point, it's bad enought that young people think that "reality TV" is representative of how people should interact. Do we really have to show how "cool" it is to manhandle vulnerable animals when they're placed out of their element and confused. I mean, how would they like to be tossed around in burlap sacks, and jumped on like that. Not to mention the chlorinated tap water that was probably in that kiddie pool, is that cool?? Watching confused and suffering animals struggle???
What's just as bad in my opinion is the show "Cops" that's been running in America now for 20 years. It's a reality show (ironically the only one that actually depicts reality) where a producer and cameraman ride around in police cars to "document" struggling and suffering people ruining their lives and getting hauled off to jail. The human tradgedy in America, drug addiction, poverty, violence, despair, desperation. That's entertainment???
People wonder what's wrong with America when we re-elect a jackass like George W. Bush. Guess what, it's education. And you know what's even worse, education consistently ranks last among major issues during election campaigns. Among Republicans and Democrats. What can we expect from an electorate that thinks it's more important to watch "American Idol", or "Dancing with the Stars", or "Jackass", or "Cops" than to pay attention to what's really going on in the world.
Blah, blah, blah.....don't even get me started

Maybe they want an incredibly organized, detail oriented jackass Sounds like some people I've known, Lol. Did you happen to notice how many times they mentioned that it was unpaid.
I don't recommend it, I have a friend I graduated from school with who went to Hollywood to intern for the short-lived Howard Stern TV show "Son of the Beach". All she did was get coffee and run errands for verbally abusive assistants to the assistants assistant producers, and schlep around all of the dirty props and equipment noone else wanted to move or carry.
There's a saying in NYC- "There's a broken heart for every light on Broadway". Meaning that, for every aspiring actor/actress that went to NY with dreams of hitting it big on Broadway, there are tens of thousands that got chewed up, and spit out (hence the broken heart) by the industry. It's the same thing in Hollywood/LA. "Internship" = chewed up/spit out/broken heart.
