Hi all :-)
Out of interest, I read the "submit yourself" page. It says that because of the high technical standards, phone cameras are not allowed. I asked myself, why...
However, phone cameras can film in a wonderful quality, just like real video cameras. Phones these days are super and getting better all the time. For example, many of them can film in 8K, all actual phones at least in HD. I bet, nowadays, you can get at least the same vieo quality with a decent phone as you can with an expensive video camera.
Why does this regulation exist?
Have a good weekend everyone :-)

That was written 10 years ago. Quite a few of the HM videos coming through now, were shot on phones. I agree, I have an iPhone 12 and it's better than some video cameras, in many ways. Most phones don't have great sound though.

Just a small suggestion to the administrators: Perhaps it would be useful to add cell phones to the guidelines with the note that the videos must be made in a certain minimum resolution? Then, I can imagine, more women would also apply. I think it would be a pity if a woman doesn't apply after reading the guidelines, just because she doesn't have a video camera, but does have a cell phone that can make great videos!
