Re: A word of warning

Their not really cows, their just two guys pretending to be cows ripping people off. They seemed so convincing at the time, I feel such a fool.

Re: A word of warning

I got one of those letters for real years ago. The author claimed to be writing from Nigeria, but the envelope had a South African post mark on it. They claimed to be representing Nigerian corporate interests, and that they had come into tens of millions of dollars but couldn't deposit it into a Nigerian bank in US dollars without losing too much of it at the rate of exchange.

Believe you me, it looked legit. It had a raised seal, used official emblems, looked notarized, etc. I almost fell for it.

They wanted to use my bank account to "transfer" the funds cleanly, they said. I would get 10%. Hard for a dirt poor student up to his eyeballs in student loan debt to refuse, eh?

Well, luckily a friend talked me out of it. This was before identity theft was so rampant. These guys are professionals, they know how to lure people into these scams. I consider myself lucky. If it hadn't been for the post mark, I wouldn't have had any doubt that it was real.

Be warned, this type of scam is becoming more and more common.

Re: A word of warning

I once had a woman email me saying she lived in newyork and she was on a business trip to africa and outlined all the things she was looking for in a man, and one was someone who would take charge of  her business. I have to say her English was really strange for someone who lives in New york. I just told her she wasn't my type and when I looked at her profile someone had left a comment saying "funny how all the beautiful women are on holiday in nigeria" So I clicked in his pick, messaged him and he said she tried to get him to buy a laptop for her. Who ever the person was they did trip the fool with me a little because I remember emailing some buddies and saying, theres this woman who really likes me but she's really strange, What can I do about it :)

I've received quite a few 'Nigerian scam' e-mails over the years. The worst thing is that they prey on those least able to see through the absurdity of their ploys, i.e. desperate or elderly people for example, or sometimes no doubt just the greedy. I'd far rather deal with the cows than with these heartless sociopaths.
