If you are a UK national then I would implore you to please sign the below petition. The UK government in its infinite wisdom* is trying to make it illegal to take photographs in public. Yet again the government here tries to make inroads into our freedoms and our lives, all in the name of "national security". This petition is designed to be a protest against this move. A petition that has been set up on the Prime Minister's website.

Thanks in advance.

Christ, sounds like California where Ah-nold is trying to ban light bulbs. What the hell, man?

I got fourteen degrees while on my lunch take. Now I can legally prescribe marriages in the state of Kansattica.

Ryan thats happening in Oz too. Most Tungsten bulbs are being banned so you have to buy fluorescent bulbs thus using less Electricity and cutting greenhouse emissions and general pollution. There are exemptions like photography and oven lights. I think that whole policy is a good thing, and Ryan, when the law comes in if your caught in possession of a Tungsten lightbulb. you'll go to jail for 8 months smile

Nowaysis the guy who's doing the petition as far as I can see doesn't explain on the site how the rights of photographers are to be effected so I googled and found an article by Amateur photographer magazine.

http://www.amateurphotographer.co.uk/ne … 10568.html

and here is a place where you can download   a pdf. of your rights to take photos in the UK

http://www.sirimo.co.uk/ukpr.php/2004/1 … ghts_guide

I think the petitions worth signing using your sacrificial hotmail address (spam lovely spam spam spam lovely spam spam spam spam spam egg and chips and spam and egg and spam) anyway it's worth signing tho because it shows that even at the hint of a rumour people will act. Sometimes people in power test the water by floating rumours and monitor the lack of concern and thats their green light.

It all seems a little nuts tho. Everyone with a phone is a paparazzi.

That defies common sense. It's so absurd I can't even believe it's real, this must be some kind of joke.

Re: Please sign...

Oh well, clearly it's a load of rubbish then. It was forwarded to me from a friend who is a wannabe professional photographer. Clearly the wires were mixed up somewhere along the line....
