I have 2 questions.

1. What games are you playing now (if any)

2. What is/are your favorite system/s and/or game/s from the past/s

I'm playing The Sims 2 and World of Warcraft now and my favorite system was the Atari 800. My favorite game of all time would have to be Montezuma (it's a beta release of a watered down game for multiple systems)

It's so geeky yet so chic-ey too

I've never played any of them but everything I read about the Sims makes me wish I didn't have a job or a life so I could play it!

At the moment I'm just finishing up GTA: San Andreas on the XBox. Although it has gotten more bad press than any video game in history (and indeed does give the player the option of being as big a bastard as he wants to be), its story and dialogue actually contains a surprising amount of well-written social satire. In fact, by the conclusion of its epic tale, there has been an obvious plea for racial tolerance and some preaching AGAINST gang-banging, all of which pretty much went over the heads of the game's target demographic (and was ignored by the game's many critics, especially anti-gaming "crusader" Jack Thompson).

Anyway, GTA: SA is one of my favorites, because although it doesn't have the best graphics ever, it has the most complex and richly detailed free-roaming world of any game ever programmed.

On PS2 I'm currently in the opening phases of Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness.

Nintendo is in my blood, I have always been loyal to it, but since it's systems cant play DVD's I use a PS2. I'm looking to upgrade to a Wii when they are cheaper.

On the PC I am playing Diablo II: Lord of Destruction (this is the expansion set, incase you were wondering). Yeah, I know it's old. But I've been playing it on and off for years and never finished it (something always happens to my computer and I end up having to start from scratch!).

My next purchases will be:
The Prince of Persia Tripple pack (All three games, one low price)
God of War II (Oh sweet mother fucking god, Yeeeeeees!!! this game will rock!)

Beware my wife usually gets 2-3 seven word score's during a game. And used to play in the tournament levels of the old "Hasbro" scrabble. (though she might be a little rusty and needs practice. "hint" )

As to my skills at scrabble, If I somehow managed to win a game. Hell would freeze over, and Diablo\Baal\Mephisto would be selling snow cones.

Scrabble - I have a scar from scrabble. When I was growing up, we would drive to Grandma's for every holiday - Christmas, New Years, Easter, Thanksgiving, Memorial Day, Labor Day, my Dad's birthday and so on. My grandfather liked to watch football and nothing else (he would get all excited and bang on the arms of his La-Z-Boy). My grandmother wouldn't let me into the kitchen, not even to decorate cookies, so my mom, my aunt and I would sit looking at each other until it was time for eating (which was inevitably a huge olive-relish tray (I also have a thing against olives) and missouri-baked ham (honey and brown sugar completely coat an otherwise tasty pig, making it weirdly sweet. Candy-coated meat is just freaky)). Afterwards, we were faced with hours and hours before anyone could go to bed, so out would come the Scrabble. If you did very very well, you got your name and score written in the lid.

As long as you were my father.

Apparently there were special rules for being included in the lid club - you had to be the first-born son of my grandmother, or else my grandmother herself, and your final score (in a four-person game) had to be at least 110. There were scores in the box going back to 1950, none of them over 150. My mother's high-scores were considered ineligible - you had to be a blood relation to make the box. Somehow my name never made it to the box either. Later, my mother told me that my father "didn't like to play games," and I think I know why.

Anyway, it wasn't until recently that I was introduced to the joy of collaborative Scrabble. We have a friend who just loves to play, and if you get stuck, she says, "Well, what have you got?" Turn your tiles around, and the next thing you know, you're getting 50 points for something fabulous that simultaneously opens up the board so everyone can play. I've learned that Scrabble isn't just for hating people with. Now if we could just keep a copy of the Scrabble dictionary around the house. For a while we were using the OED, but that just takes WAY too long.

As far as video games, I've been replaying the first 3 Crash Bandicoots lately. There's a slope-shouldered charm to that little guy - I love his sunken-chested optimism, and his spinny glee. I'm in Crash 3 right now, and I've just acquired the Fruit Bazooka.

Ryan, I'm with you on God of War 2. SOOO can't wait!

Some times the games cheat. I have a backgammon programme which always rolls precisley what it needs to hit me every time I leave a singleton and rolls multiple high doubles if ever I get ahead in the end game.

Scrabble is serious business. There will be no cooperative play in my house, and if I don't win, it was the leters' fault. So there!

Jokes aside though, it is probably one of my favourite board games, it manages to blend linguistic prowess and the kind of comptetitive spite that only grows within a family into a dealy concotion of joy and utter despari.

On topic: I mostly play World of Warcraft, since it's all I feel up to when I get home from work in the afternoon (I start at seven in the morning). I do however own a Gamecube, a Nintedo DS and an old Playstation, which do see frequent use when I have more free time.

I'll give a rundown of favourites and recommendations (and warnings) for each system when I'm not quite so tired (maybe after tomorrow's raid on Zul'Gurub).

What about Rook? My mother sent me a bunch of old games that she found at Grandma's (I'm guessing my Dad doesn't like to play any of them either), but she couldn't find the instructions. Rook is one, Pit is another. I think Pit has to do with the stock market?

And I think I have the email thing configured right - you might have to remind me to check it. This is my first forum, and I'm not positive I did it right.

For video games, I'm currently playing through the original 8 Bit Legend of Zelda (for my very first time) having just beaten Twilight Princess on the Wii.

I'm also another one of the scrabble freaks and have been playing alot online recently at Ityourturn.com (though they call it Jamble, probably because of copyright issues).

But for card games, when the gang gets together, the game is Kaiser, which we all learned in University. I didn't learn with the main group, so I don't know all the secret table top and code that they use, so I quite often end up frustrating my partners to all hell :-)
