As my horrible spelling could probably attest to, I can't. But I'd like to learn. Anybody that could either teach me through IMs, Skype, or even some helpful links would be greatly appreciated. I'll take whatever I can get.
I am going to college on the 16th and one of the classes I'm shooting for is German so I'd LIKE to have a study partner (hence the main reason I came up with this thread) but, like I said, all help is welcome.
Also, to address the ubiquitous question (yes, it's everywhere. It's all-present. It's the elephant in the room ) of how I can type, look at this art (because this isn't porn... it's beyond that... and I NEVER say such artsy-fartsy crap,) etc. allow me to explain:
I have Retinopothy of Prematurity. I was born 1 pound 14 ounces at 25 weeks. I was early... and I was born in '83 which was a bad year for premats.... well, it's always a bad year for us... and they used too much oxygen in the incubator and my retinas are in various stage of detachment. My left one is completely detached and my right one is pretty stable.
The short of it is I have 20/200 in my right eye which allows me, through a big ol' moniter, to type and look at art... even play video games like Civilization 4 and Baldur's Gate.
So.... with all that out of the way.

No I don't study Japanese. German is enough for now
I look forward to meeting all of you.
I got fourteen degrees while on my lunch take. Now I can legally prescribe marriages in the state of Kansattica.

Ryan, I think you may be out of luck. I don't recall any German speakers on the IFM forum (although if there are, you probably wouldn't be able to tell, because their English would be impeccable). If you were after Swedish speakers - well that would be another matter.

Skeit! Oh well. I'm here anyway and I'm happy to meet all of you.

We are glad to meet you too Blind_Ryan (that shift hyphen is a bitch to get right - I suggest we refer to you as Ryan).
[Edit: Now that DOES sound impolite! I'll use the correct form of address in future.]

Might as well. I'm not allowed to have a space it seems

When I first read this, I was taking it as a more existential comment; took me a sec to realize you were talking about typography!
I don't speak German despite having studied it for 4 years in high school. Problem is, after school I didn't have any opportunity to speak it, aside from a brief vacation in Austria and Bavaria (where, of course, they don't speak schoolbook German anyway). When my daughter took 1 year of high school German a couple years ago, I was astounded by how much I didn't remember.
But you only need one German word to describe IFM: Ausgezeichnet!

It was impolite of me to deny you your humble space just because I can't type, Blind_Ryan. Sorry! There it is back in its rightful place (though I can't promise it won't accidentally turn into a hyphen in future postings!).

Hi Ryan, try this one. It's supposed to be good. http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/german/
BTW, I am German. So there's at least one here...

Hi Ryan, it's been a while since your post, but I wanted to let you know, there is at least one more German speaking individual around. Actually I am Swiss (even though we're not exactly known as outgoing ) feel free to ask me anything - good luck with your studies!
