Re: The question game

I don't know what Adagio is pondering.

I think I'd quite enjoy being sung to if I was a telemarketeer. smile

I think we should be nice to people who give out parking tickets. they've got a difficult job and even tho I haven't got a car I'm still nice to them.

Car or bicycle?

Re: The question game

The meter maid??

Oh Max, dear Max, PLEASE don't tell me I have to be nice to the meter maid. In our town they were EVEN ticketing cars on CHRISTMAS EVE!!!!  As the old folks say, is nothing sacred anymore??!

As she is the person whose job pisses the most people off around these parts, I am guessing you'd say yes. . . .

How is Cate enjoying her new job??

"Uh, I think so, Brain, but we'll never get a monkey to use dental floss."

If you could have the run of any famous locale, all to yourself (or with a partner), for a week, what and where would it be?

Good question:  How IS Cate enjoying her new job?

The Star trek Enterprise. even tho they don't appear to have any toilets anywhere, we could still make some using the holodeck.
We'd take it for a spin to the nearest lesbian planet and back.

I'd swap bodies with... I dunno, some guy with a better metabolism than mine. Now if we're talking mind AND body then I'd have to say Mick Foley because he's retired and has a wife and kids... my dream for myself in 50 years or so.

Here's one: Is there anybody on this forum who DOESN'T hate President Bush?

I would confiscate all "bhutan" cigarette lighters because their use contributes to global warming.

What is the best roast dessert you can have?

Re: The question game

Hmmm, so you roast egg, rice pudding do you.  I wonder what gas mark or oven temperature that's on.
Drinks?  You can't beat milk straight from the vat after all the cows have been milked - with a dash of brandy.

What was Abbas most popular song.  No cheating now.

Mamma Mia!
(I'm sure everyone thought it was "Waterloo")
I know this because for some reason when I listen to Abba my teeth hurt. Buggered if I know what it has to do with the question, but I thought I'd share it.

What am I thinking of right now?

Is infidelity the worst thing you can do while in a serious loving all around happy relationship?

Re: The question game

Well past infidelity you get into passive-agressive behavior and that's where some REALLY bad stuff happens.

I know for a fact: Pass-Agg is worse then infidelity.

Re: The question game

I choose to indulge my Geek-ish ways (when I have the time) with:

-A $50 a month Comic addiction.
-An almost complete collection of Terry Pratchett's "Discworld".
-A whoooole lotta internet mileage.
-An avid role player (L5R, Star Wars, Vampire: Masquerade and a few self-created ones.)

You get the idea.

Does anyone else here miss "The Man Show?"

Re: The question game

I don't miss it. It's too... fake. It was too childish for me too... and I enjoy such things as AMV Hell and Robot Chicken which are pretty childish.

Now Loveline? I miss that. I'd play Simcity on my SNES whilst listening to that. Good times. Good times.

I've got a good question that I end up asking everyone at one time or another: Would you rather be blind or deaf? Why? (I have yet to get a good long answer out of anyone sad )

I've been asked this one before, and I always say that I would rather be deaf, though it is a tough choice.  Since I've spent most of my adult life writing film reviews (and loving it), I wouldn't want to lose my sight.  Even though the filmgoing experience would be greatly diminished if I lost my hearing, I could still get a certain amount of enjoyment from it with the use of closed captioning/subtitles (though I couldn't in good conscience continue to do critical work).

Don't get me wrong; I would definitely miss the sound of music (or the music of my lover's voice).  If I had to choose honestly, though, that's the way I'd go.

Let's see, wacky question time for someone.  Which historical figure would you most want to have sex with?

Re: The question game

I have a ringer for you, Polarchill, Without sight, you'd miss the "wonderful" cinematography and visual effects. Also, you'd be able to tune in to the "wonderful" voice acting they use nowadays. Just something to think about. Kind of the same thing with deafness 'cept it's ass backwards smile

Seeing as how there are SOOOO many women historical figures and all, lol.

Catherine the Great. She looks like she could be good in the sack. Allow me to quote Wikipedia:

"Catherine, throughout her long reign, took many lovers, often elevating them to high positions for as long as they held her interest, and then pensioning them off with large estates and gifts of serfs. After her affair with Grigori Alexandrovich Potemkin, he would select a candidate-lover for her who had both the physical beauty as well as the mental faculties to hold Catherine's interest (such as Alexander Dmitriev-Mamonov). Some of these men loved her in return: she had a reputation as a beauty by the standards of the day, and always showed generosity towards her lovers, even after the end of an affair. The last of her lovers, Prince Zubov, 40 years her junior, proved the most capricious and extravagant of them all."

I'm gonna keep this question going because I like it. To reiterate: Which historical figure would you screw sideways and stupid (always liked that one)

Re: The question game

I have whiplash.

Wander off for a couple of days and see what happens.

Welcome Blind Ryan - if someone hasn't already said so. [Edit: In fact, Welcome whether or not someone has already said so.]

My historical figure would be Jane Austen, except that I know that it would only amount to a complex conversation into the small hours of the morning, with subtext(s). But that's okay. I only hope I'd have the wit to keep up.

Who has inspired you? (This may have been asked before - if so, my apologies.)

I think there are (or at least were) quite a few table top fantasy role players on the site Ryan.  Myself included.  Incidentaly the British term for a "geek" is an Anorak.

Which historical figure?  Joan of Arc in about 1427.  It would have saved a lot of unpleasantness and England might still control most of France.  (Sorry if that offends anyones religious sensibilities).

Re: The question game

Whoops.  Calenture slipped in whileI was typing the above so I'll answer his question.

My greatest inspiration was a man called Joe who was my closest friend in the mid seventies.  He made me beleive in possibilities.

If you could suddenly become a maestro on any musical instrument which would you choose?

Re: The question game

[Aside:]

And Emily Dickinson of course - but that too would be 'just' conversation. (It would be improper to imagine anything else with her.)

Elfman did not ask a question. So here's one.

Who do you hate or love (or both), and why?

[Edit: Ooh Elf, I love it when we post at the same time! The person below (different thread!) may answer either my question or The Elf's.]

Re: The question game

If I could be a maestro of any instrument, I'd be a maestro of the bagpipes.

I love the sound of bagpipes. I'm a third scottish... so plaid is in my blood.

Let's continue this knowledge trend. If you could instantaneously know any language, which would it be?

Re: The question game

he he, my mum always says she would have rather be alive during the Jane Austin times (whenever that was) and I always use say that she'd just be a maid or a farmers wife or something shitty and hard. It's because we can do what we like in fantasy!
And to answer Calenture's question I love red hair and I hate onions.
