Is it nobler in the mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them, or is it better to just wait and see how things turn out, because sometimes, your troubles arn't actually as outrageous as you think?.
It's best to wait and see how things turn out Blissed, theres no need to act too early and produce a pointless conflict.
Have you been talking to yourself lately?

Was that the first draft blissed? I'm glad he changed it. Wouldn't have been much of a play.

Which universe?
Am I the only one here who hates New Year's Eve?

I kind of hate new years eve. All the shops in my town are shut and the party-goers are probebly getting too pissed to open them tomorrow.
(someone probebly asked this question) What was the quirkiest gift you got this year?
Well... there was nothing in my dark side that really interested me. I guess I just dont have what it takes to be a bad guy.

oh, such a good question. (Glad to see you're getting right in the groove, jessica!)
I have discussed this often with my siblings -- we ALL prefer to be the leavee rather than the leaver. This way we feel less/no guilt. So we tend, if we want to leave, to just kind of not be very present anymore, not very fun -- i would not exactly call this passive-aggressive, because it's not, it's just that we are more focused on realizing we aren't the person for our erstwhile partner, than that they aren't the person for us, if you follow. And we stop trying to hide that fact. So eventually (and it always takes longer than one wishes) they decide it's not working, and THEY leave.
And then we fall apart!!
We appear to have learned this behavior from our father.
I have never left. Ever. I just don't think I have the chutzpah.
The abbot of the monastery I was a part of use to say that, despite wanting in general to do away with dualistic thinking -- that "there are basically TWO kinds of people -- those who stay too long and those who leave too early. You'll know immediately which one you are, and it's my encouragement that you choose the other type of behavior, as an awareness practise, in your next relationship."

My resolution is to travel more, and to not listen to people who always say "No." to things all the time
What is Chutzpah? (sounds like a Jewish holiday)

Chutzpah is a Yiddish word that usually means something like 'incredible, outrageous nerve'. The classic example is the person who murders his parents, then asks the court for mercy because he's an orphan.

buy a pet rat and teach it to ride a bicycle.
It looks like your gonna be stranded for years on a remote island with someone gorgeous who you are deeply attracted to and who you know you wouldn't have a chance of attracting otherwise. However, one day while they are over the other side of the island collecting firewood, you see from a hill top a passing ship, who, in the next 3 hours, would definitely see a fire if you lit one and come and "rescue you"
Do you A/ say "We can use the firewood tomorrow, I just fancy a salad" or
B/ Hide, so your partner spends the next 3 hours looking for you.

This is out of sequence - but that doesn't matter because I'm currently outside the space-time continuum in my TARDIS (hey, don't be rude, it's bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside), but I had to interrupt to say, Siobhan you tease!
The abbot of the monastery I was a part of ...
You can't just drop a bombshell like that and walk away whistling insouciantly as if nothing's happened! Well, this is the wrong thread for going into details I'm sure, but - another time, another place perhaps.
"there are basically TWO kinds of people -- those who stay too long and those who leave too early.
I am both - at the same time! So there! (Thanks to my trusty TARDIS of course.)
Now I shall dematerialise, only to reappear earlier on in the thread - back on page 2 perhaps. Or who knows - perhaps on the yet to be written page 12, where you will find me waiting for you, sluggards!
Now normal service will be resumed, as our resident Robinson Crusoe finds his or her self faced with a terrible dilemma.

And then he threw you out? Because THAT would be irony.

Oh, and I'd probably go for:
C) Try to do the noble thing and light the fire. I'm a complete sucker.
Doing the noble thing only gets you the girl in movies, in spite of what my mother always told me. Eventually, though, you have a nice list of noble acts (and noble failures) to look back on. Sadly, it's also noble to not toot your own horn, so even if you have the girl at some point, you probably won't ever mention most of these acts.

Yes, if you look far enough back. Say, two, three pages . . .

Accountants appear to be emotionally competent, but pages of columns of figures have a sedating affect on most people. I would say that it is easier to be physically challenged and emotionally competent. People who are emotionally challenged have a very raw time, and jessicaxmas I like your question.
Sadam Hussein went on trial for atrocities against the people of Iraq. Should George Bush, Tony Blair and John Howard have gone on trial with him?

I believe most politicians are incompetent in more ways i can mention, so that is punishement enough in my books...
By the way i googled the word incompetent for spelling, as i do, and articles about Bush and cervix came up...how weird...
Thanks for liking my question, i am humbled by the forum so that helped
If problems are a sign of life, and the only people without them are in cemetaries, what about zombies?

jessicaxmas thats a perfectly good question.
Zombies are actually dead, a bit like when your sleep walking your still asleep. I could dazzle you with all the research theres been on zombies, but you'll just have to accept that what I have to say here is absolutely proven scientific fact.
How conclusive do the results of your experiments have to be to indicate that you may have proven your theory?

I do try. I always seem to end up with an edited by Blissed thing at the bottom.
I've managed to get rid of it sometimes by editing until theres no mistakes copying and then deleting the post, then posting it again. So if one day the post you've just answered ends up underneath yours you'll know why Siobhan, didn't you go blonde yesterday? it suits you!
Anyway, the answer to the question is, it depends on who's paying for the experiments.
Is this a reasonable way to treat a telemarketer?

No, I believe this is a much better way to handle one:

I usually don't enjoy telephone pranks, but under the circumstances . . . Hey, they've interrupted just a FEW too many dates, dinnners, and at least one wake that I was at.

to be, a video editor not to be, a telemarketer.
I was a market research telephone person (not quite but similar to a telemarketer) for about 3 months when I first left home. It's hard because people don't like you and all you want to do is make money for food.
So we should be nice and patient with people who call us because chances are they're just students who have to put themselves through Uni/College etc.
Who else should we be nice to because their jobs involve pissing people off?
