Sorry, off eating pizza. *urp*

Having an affair and lying about it to his wife was a bad thing.  Lying about it to the COUNTRY?  What did that have to do with running the government?  Yet they tried to impeach him.  Insanity.  That was always my position.

Now many years have passed, and our government has decided that it is in the best interests of the country to not impeach a president who we have considerable evidence against for lying about his reasons for starting a WAR.  There's kind of a contrast there.

Okay, folks who have seen worse days.  What's the longest you have lived on Ramen noodles?

No no no  no no no no  pot noodles should be banned.

Twas a long dusty road that winded towards the sunset for sure. Twas a journey that Jed was just about to partake of. The fact that he hadn't eaten for 2 days but twas but a day from a source of sustenance drove him on, chasing the sunset along the dusty road.

Thats not from a novel, I wrote that myself.

Do you ever fancy yourself as a novelist?

If you could be fluent in another language than your first for only one year what language would that be? (oh, and when you are given this language you lose all ability to speak your first language)

Re: The question game

Thats what happens to me anyway, if I learn another language I start to forget some of my own. But I think I'd speak Japanese. It's a fascinating culture and I don't think you can appreciate it fully unless you can speak the language. Obviously I'd move to Japan for a year, there wouldn't be much point in me only being able to speak Japanese and still live in England smile

I would like to think I would have the balls to base jump. After taking some beautiful photographs of course. I don't think I would pee off the side though. Not really my thing. wink

Re: The question game

I don't know. I thought my paper: the history of haircuts and their sociological influence both internationally and within the sphere of my own anecdotal experience was well received by my peer review body.

I'm a professor at a leading university in Cambridge, I have my own show on TV and I'm actually quite famous.
Now thats some real Bollocks for you smile

Have you ever lied and been really glad you did?

This interjection not intended to play the game.  Elf, I think context is everything with ISB.  If originally acquired in late '60s-early '70s, no shame is required.  I have a complete set of their records up to about '76, and regret it not.  If this is a recent acquisition, for shame, you retro hippie wannabe!

Now Take 5, there's some embarassment for ya!

Then why does "Maya" have my housemate wetting himself whenever I put it on?  Oh and by the way I'm a retero hippie am, not a wannabe smile.

I have often lied outrageously and been convinced I was compltely correct to do it.  I recently heard that an aquaintence who was dangerously overweight was struggling to slim down a little.  The next time I saw him I looked at him quizikly and said "Have you lost weight?".  I couldn't honestly see the difference but it made him feel better and increased his resolve.

If you could choose to do something that you have never been capable of doing before what would it be?

Re: The question game

I recall listening to "This American Life" on a day when the topic was superpowers.  Wold you rather be able to fly or have the ability to become invisible.  One interviewee said that he thought that flyers were actively engaged in life while the minvisible were furtive wankers.

I have often dreamt I could fly, and the feeling is so glorious.  So that's it for me.  I would fly.

If you are a hippy of a certain age, you are not retro, you are the real thing.  Not that there's anything wrong to wannabe.  ;-)

Certain songs speak to me.  I listened to "There She Goes" yesterday, and while Lee Mavers may allow it's about smack, was reduced to tears thinking about the dead wife.  What's the last song ("Maya" excluded) that made you cry?

Almost never.

I think I dreamt about blissed last night, but I can't remember what he was doing. I don't think it was sexual though. Maybe we were having a chat with a nice cup of tea and a biscuit. smile

What would you like to do with blissed?

Re: The question game

Oh alright. I'll answer my own question:

Attend a lecture by a famous Cambridge professor with their own TV show and heckle.

[Edited to delete lame sample heckling, which is preserved for a grateful posterity anyway by polarchill below.]

Are you ashamed of anything?

'And better looking'.
Etc., etc.

Are you ashamed of anything?

Yes.  As open as I am about most of my past and present, there is one period of my life that I will never write about in here.

Not normally a fan of peanut butter though when I'm in the US I am a fan of Reece's Pieces, so I guess that would count as smooth.

Re: The question game

we have in Australia the best bread in the world, it's called Cape Seed and one slice will keep you regular for a year. So cheese with salad on cape seed for me. If it wasn't going to go funny I would send you a loaf for Christmas Blissed, I reckon you'd like it.

Polachill I am now very curious. I've constructed a scenario in my head that involves horses and the mob and Elvis and Vegas. Am I close?

Speaking of Vegas, Frank Sinatra, good guy or bad guy?

Re: The question game

Yes.   Nelson Riddle, swinging interpreter of the American songbook, heart on his sleeve Frank- good guy.

Misogynist, mob connected, insecure sadist to close friends and distant father Frank- bad guy.

To continue in this vein, Capitol Frank or Reprise Frank?

Well, the fiancee obsesses over the Godfather movies, I loved the US TV series Crime Story, and I'm currently playing the Las Venturas levels of GTA: San Andreas.  Does that count?

Hehe, before your imagination runs wild, I WILL say that this mysterious period, however complicated, only involved a victimless crime, which my psychologist assures me that I should forgive myself for and leave behind.  I've just always been better at forgiving others than at forgiving myself.

By the way, I agree with jwhite, although the partner has always seen more of the good Sinatra side than I have.

Well I googled it and they were Frank Sinatras record labels. I'm not really into him enough to know which is best. I  like "who's got the last laugh now" He's got a brilliant voice on that.

I think it's great just to belt out one of his songs at random in the office or something as if you in a hollywood musical

Re: The question game

Ooh I love singing, but I don't do it much any more. Why is that? And I don't know all the words to many songs, so I like to sing isolated bits of the Sex Pistols and Scott Walker, preferably in consecutive couplets.

Do you know who Scott Walker is? (Shame on you. Google him immediately.)

Re: The question game

Of course I know who Scott Walker is! I like to sing bits of his songs.

And I like to sing the opening verse of Johnny Cash's 'Folsom Prison Blues' and imagine the roar of affirmation from thousands of Folsom inmates at the 'I shot a man in Reno / Just to watch him die' bit.

I have a deep bass voice, in case anyone is wondering.

I am writing this by candlelight. What was the last thing you did by candlelight?
