instant orgasm

Interesting article about a man who accidentally invented a machine which - seemingly - can give instant orgasms. I'm not sure about the article's song and dance about "an estimated 12 to 43 percent of women hav[ing] some kind of sexual dysfunction", but I am pretty interested in these little diodes none the less... imagine if they gave him money so he could make it small, cheap, AND work out something so it relieves back pain while also inducing orgasm? I imagine every female office worker in the world would stand in line for it... and I'll be at the very front.

Kind of reminds me of this scene from Aeon Flux..

Re: instant orgasm

Well if we are talking about the whole planet, then I guess I can see what the article is saying when it talks about 12-43 percent, I mean when you take into account that 91% of Egypt's female population has been circumcised,  simply as a result of genital mutilation you are going to have sexual dysfunction. So if you add those kind of numbers (and Egypt is not alone in such practices) to the number of women with naturally occurring sexual dysfunctions I don't think a 12% mark would be hard to reach. Especially with the pervasiveness of porn at young ages skewing many people's views on sex.

Side note: The guy who created Aeon Flux did so to release his own sexual frustration, as his entire job involved creating stories about the adventures of babies. (He also created Rugrats)

Re: instant orgasm

12% I could believe, maybe, it was the higher end of the scale which had me raising my eyebrow. Including genital mutilation - I wouldn't have, personally, as it's possible to have sex organs which are non-conformative, and still experience a full cycle of sexual response.

But anyway I guess whats irritating for me about the numbers is, what's the point in attaching numbers to a concept so very vague in the first place? What the hell is female sexual dysfunction? It's anything and everything that hinders a happy sexuality - lack of education, lack of patience, lack of self-knowledge, lack of caring, past sexual trauma,  clammy fingers, an over-wet tongue, porno expectations, sleeping with the wrong people, vibrator overuse, guilt about your drinking problem, chemotherapy, antidepressants, worry about your new job, not enough sleep. It's anything and everything.

Somehow I feel that slapping a label on "everything" and saying 43% of women and 31% of men (webmd article) experience difficult with it - well that's like asking a sample group, "Who's had a problem or problems at any point during your life?"

The results would say more about honesty than anything else, really.

I love to keep watching Aeon Flux over the years as when I started watching it, I was still enjoying Rugrats. Not sure what that says about me, but over time I just get more and more out of it... and less and less out of Rugrats, unfortunately.

Re: instant orgasm

"Any drug or device to treat female sexual dysfunction that its creators hope to bring to market would be the first of its kind"

What about the vibrator? I wonder if there's any way to make this machine less invasive and use it as a sex toy. I assume it would work for women without anorgasmia as well. I wonder if they've tried it on men, and if there is build up to the orgasm or you just go from completely unaroused to orgasm in 5 seconds. There's so much potential...

That scene from Aeon Flux was cool, like a sexy game of operation.

Yeah, if they're going to quote specific results they need to reference the study they're from, so we can assess sample size, demographic etc. It's not good enough to just say "research suggests"!

Re: instant orgasm

An orgasm without buildup would be like a scary seizure. Actually I wonder what is an orgasm? To me, the best feeling part is like... when you go over the falls, but you haven't crashed into the rocks yet... the feeling when you can't turn back, but you haven't quite exploded... if it would be just *nerve* *touch* *spasm* that would be uncomfortable, not really pleasant.

Re: instant orgasm

Yeah, it would be bizarre to have an orgasm without anything touching your clit or vagina at all... and especially if it just hit you with no warning, haha. I like that stage of orgasm as well, I like that sometimes it's longer than others, and sometimes immediately after or before is the sweetest feeling. I used to think that the beginning of this song was like an orgasm, now I don't quite identify with it so strongly but I can still see how it's similar. Warning it's 90s rave music.

Re: instant orgasm

Have you guys heard about raising the kundalini? I think that's what the machine does.
