First woman ever to advance to the American Ninja Warrior finals

Kacy Catanzaro is super strong and badass and has become the first woman to ever make it into the finals of the extreme athletic challenge show American Ninja Warrior.

Watch her complete the course here (she starts it around the 1 minute mark): http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x21hgr … nals_sport

Or here if you live in the USA: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XfZFuw7a13E

I've never seen that show before. The video is thrilling. What's really interesting is how little I was able to relate to the physical feats she performed - I have no equivalent to jumping from pole to pole, for example, to comprehend how hard it is. To me she kind of looked more like a video game character than a person, able to do things only cartoons can do. Maybe I should watch the show more to understand what it means for real humans to attempt challenges like those.... I just can't understand it.

That was pretty awesome, to be able to do that, male or female takes a lot of strength and determination. Oddly I think that because of her gymnastics training the polls were probably the easiest part for her.

It looks like the first video was removed, here's a link to a good HD version: http://tv.esquire.com/videos/71307-kacy … las-finals

You're right Rocketman, the flexibility in her hips really helped with the vertical poles. She even jumped between them with ease. Thee most impressive part for me was the salmon ladder, where she launched herself up the rungs using just her upper body strength. I guess the closest thing I can compare that to in my experience is struggling to do one pushup... it's hard to understand the amount of strength needed to do these things, but I still find them really interesting to watch.
