I just saw Interview with a Vampire again. I am a huge fan of Ann Rice. She spans from soft porn with vampires and italian opera castrates to questions about the meaning of life, god etc. I think she now is a devoted catholic and lives in California and not Lousisiana and will not write about her old themes. She has however not denounced Lestat and the guys.
But back to the interview. In Ann Rice's universe the blood sucking is better than sex, even for non vampires. This is gender free. But she also depicts a love between the main characters, vampires, which are male. This love is not as brothers but as humans (vampires)..
And later in the moive Brad Pitt and Antonio Banderas almost kiss.
This is true to the books, Ann Rice did really investigate this gay/gender free vampire love.
In other vampire universes: Twilight, Buffy, True blood etc, this is not investigated even if sucking still is better or similar to sex.
So back to my question:
Are true (Ann Rice..) vampires the best examples of non gender centric lovers ? ;-)

And another related question is of course:
- Do vampires masturbate ???
- And if they do , how ??????

Oh my gosh, I love the Anne Rice vampire novels (and the cheesy films too)! Those sexually tense moments fueled a lot of my teenage fantasies, so hot.
I'm not super eloquent at expressing myself, so I hope this doesn't sound silly, but I don't think the vampires of Anne Rice's world are really gay. Well, not in the traditional sense. I think that they are attracted to the sort of power, raw sexuality and mystery that only another vampire can have, regardless of gender.
Do vampires masturbate? I think the peak of excitement for them is feeding/blood drinking, so there's not really much point in having a wank.

It's so weird that this statement is so hot to me!! I also grew up lusting over (they gayness) of vampires - I mean vampires in general are hot, and in my teenage years I was fairly obsessed with boys having sex with each other. I think the homoerotic overtones in Anne Rices' vampires are intentional, those vamps drip with age-old jaded sexual tension, a new vampire triggers sensual interest... in fact everything in her world is an excuse for sex, if not outright than veiled.. every power struggle has a submission, every bite is ecstacy for everyone involved...
Maybe it's not just her. Vampires are lusty creatures. They smolder.
In True Blood, they've toyed with Eric/Bill soooo many times (love it) and who could forget the Bill and Sam shower fantasy... oh MY.
Charlotte have you read any Poppy Z Brite? Not sure how well it stands up to the test of time as I am no longer the same horny rabid little teenage girl but I remember those books to be chock full of gay goth/horror activities.

Some might say they stand up terribly, but I do not give a damn and reread Exquisite Corpse, Lost Souls and Drawing Blood yearly! I also take the time to check in on Billy Martin's blog (Brite transitioned a while back) every few months just to see how my fave ex-goth is travelling.
Do you think there will ever be a IFM video that indulges my dark fantasies? I'm sure I'm not the only Carmilla fan here, and elements of that tale are perfect for an IFM adaptation:
"..... it was like the ardour of a lover; it embarrassed me; it was hateful and yet overpowering; and with gloating eyes she drew me to her, and her hot lips travelled along my cheek in kisses; and she would whisper, almost in sobs, "You are mine, you shall be mine, and you and I are one for ever"
So intense and exciting!

So hot. I think it would be difficult to properly capture that mood since we are not experts... but Charlotte I feel confident that if you found a performer as talented as yourself, you could walk together that perfect line between reality and fantasy acting... like when we roleplay with our partners, acting doesn't always preclude true arousal. in fact sometimes a little make-believe makes the reality that much hotter.

This is so much sexy fun!
Yes please !! A Carmilla IFM is just perfect.
My question about vampire sex and mastubation was about the vampire point of view ..., i.e. Louis doesn't think he is dark and sexy, he misses the human connection with the earth (and maybe sex?) and loves all humans and vampires alike. So, to answer my own question, Lous is not gay, he is all loving (and eating). Which is a beatuiful state of mind.
