In Japanese, it's rare to say "I love you" (aishiteiru) - more normal to say to your spouse and child "you are important to me' (taisetsu ni shimasu.)
Thats a little sad from my westerner's point of view, where saying I love you is something I find myself doing maybe more often than really neccesary.
Either way, this effort to increase manly appreciation of their wives is really heartwarming. I teared up a little!
