Hi guys!

It has been a long and refreshing journey far from the computers and the pornosphere, but reading through what you folks have been writing about on these forums has me excited to be back. Y'all are so smart and sexy, so at ease with these topics. And good to each other (usually). Reading it all at once like this is a great reminder of what we do and why we do it, seeing the viewers and contributors interacting with such confidence and respect.

It's a marked contrast to my interactions with porn and sexuality in general while I was abroad. The only time I got the kinds of feeling that I get around here was when I gave a presentation about my work to a small group of my contemporaries - because I had their fixed attention, and was able to successfully define the atmosphere to echo our kind of respectful sex-positivity. It was a powerful experience. But in general it was a shock to be plunged into the world outside of my sphere of influence, where perfectly smart people turn into dumb jerks when it comes to talking about porn.

Example, I spent some time working and hanging out in LA and the general disregard and disgust those industry folks expressed for those who work in porn was obnoxious at best. I was unable to clarify to most people there what my work means, although in LA communicating any sort of depth of meaning is like pulling teeth out of banana slugs. I didn't try too hard after the first few gos.

Also my own ability to watch porn was limited to what I could find for free on my iphone and, if anyone's been down that road recently, you'll agree with me that it's rarely a pretty sight.

So yes, now I am more than ready to ease back into a community where sex-positivity is a given, and we expand from there, as opposed to having to lay down the very basics every time I want to discuss anything sex-related. It got tiresome, I can assure you.

Fortunately, back here in Feckland it's been nothing but stunning! Holly and Gala and Madison and Jane and Saoirse and Anya K - oh my, that was a hot August. Try and keep your socks on for September - I've taken a look at the schedule and it's shaping up to be a beautiful month.
