Wasnt Riven part of the Myst series?
Offline
Welcome to my comfort zone
I run a Video Gaming forum, and Moderate a forum run by Maxis (the makers of The Sims, SimCity, Spore, A-Train etc.), and on another forum I frequent (as a Chat Moderator) I have listed my top ten games *runs off to that forum to grab the list*
10. Zoo Tycoon Series (2001)
9. Championship Manager 03/04 (2003)
8. Freelancer (2003)
7. Star Wars BattleFront Series (2005)
6. Resistance Series (2006)
5. Unreal Tournament GOTYE (2000)
4. Civilization Series (1991)
3. Spore and Galactic Adventures (2008)
2. Pro Evolution Soccer Series (2001)
1. Railroad Tycoon Series (1990)
I feel that list gives away my age.. lol
I never played Riven, but I believe it was separate from Myst, but made by the same people. I did play Myst briefly, and did not really enjoy it.

Inner nerd be damned, full blown nerd/geek and proud! 'Tis a badge of honor!
BTW, Add S.T.A.L.K.E.R to my list, and the upcoming Skyrim!

You know that's posted on the Mana Bar toilet wall. I think they should put it on their menu.

Myst is the hardest game to go trough. I haven't heard of anyone finishing the game. I tried, but had to give up.
My favourite games. hmm, there are so many. Can begin with the best game ever made:
Final Fantasy X
Final Fantasy VII
Gran Turismo 5 (and 1 & 2)
Command & Conquer
Resident evil 1, 2, 3, 5
Silent Hill 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Elder Scrolls: Oblivion (and hopefully skyrim, just ordered)
Star Trek Online
There are more, but these are some of the best.

Man, all those fast use-these-complicated-controls-to-spin-around-aim-and-shoot-real-fast games are beyond me. There was a certain turn that video games took at some point, around Resident Evil the first, that just left me and my MarioCart-ready skillz at the curb. HALO, for example, totally incomprehensible to my hands.
good luck with skyrim. I had some friends who got that game, I haven't spoken to them since.

Hi everyone,
Could we update the favourite computer games list? What's everyone playing these days?
Skyrim for me is incredible. Wow.
Civilization is still great - I love strategy games (although I do prefer Civ 4 to Civ 5) and all of the Total War Games. A new Sim City might be released soon too!
I'm also hoping that one day we'll get the concluding episode to Half-Life 2.
I used to play World of Warcraft all of the time - but I find the community is now not very nice and so have stopped playing. It really took a downturn with the cross-server groups in my opinion. Does anyone else agree?
John.

By the way, this being a first posting here, a warm hi and glad to have met you to all!

Hey Gryphonself, I don't know those games but welcome to the forum!

Hi Viva and thanks!
You probably do not know them because they are based on existing board and card games, played over the net against real opponents. Highly intelligent and not necessarily requiring too much time to play, they are very addictive, IMO.
A place to find them is boardgamearena.com

Boardgames I like most:
Twilight Imperium 3th ed.

I have been playing way way too much minecraft. I like hitting things with pickaxes. It's weird how something so open ended can be so addictive. It may also be that I'm terrible at controlling characters so FPS just doesn't work for me, and I don't like the zoomed out view of most RTS.

Infinite repetitive tasks involving stacking cubes - thats a big yes. I wish I had the followthrough to actually build anything cool in Minecraft but I'm so distractable. I did have two squids trapped in a small lake under my house though, which had a glass floor so that was cool.

I've just started playing Minecraft properly - I never knew what the fuss was about and then... suddenly, I'm hooked!
It's just quite therapeutic to get in from work some evenings, and spend some time flattening a big hill, for example.
I'm also really looking forward to the new Sim City, and also Far Cry 3 (I still really enjoy the first Far Cry, and play through it again at least once a year).
Still no news on when Episode 3 of Half Life is going to come out though, which is a shame, because it has now been so long since Episode 2 that I am starting to lose interest.
John.
