This might sound stupid. But with the recent outbreak of people getting insulted over mere words. Perhaps it would be a good idea to start a "flame" subtopic. Where people who are more civilized. (Unlike me, and others) Can avoid the heat.

And those us like me, Who like to argue over stupid things. Can flame away.

(I really can't speak for other's. But I don't want to drive others away. With my strong personal convictions. But at the same time, I want to be open for discussion and not censored.)

Anyway, its an idea.

i don't know what a flame thread is, but i DID want to say that I've meant to tell you, msnevil, how much I enjoyed and apreacited a post you wrote that i think may be on the deleted thread -- about your own convictions recently. I know someone has a copy of the thread and may be reposting it, but until then, even though my memory is hazy, i just appreciated how forthright you were about your beliefs -- about why people some people who've been hurt act the way they do, and about your beliefs in God, etc. So -- thanks.

And as for the recent outbreak -- people mature at different rates and, meanwhile, now that we have the magnificent Elfman as our table host, reminding us which fork to use and not to talk with our mouths full, I think "people who are more civilized" can bandy about with the rest of us with ease.

Thank you sioban for your kind words. I try my best to understand why people are the way they are. And approach from a common understanding.

A flame forum is a place for people to fight it out. Over the last 10 years, I have been on many forums. And have found that pride is so easy to hurt. Friends become enemies with simple words. And sometimes a "open" discussion is the only way to solve disagreements.

And perhaps a "ignore" poster button might be a good idea as well. When discussion fails.

No one wishes to stifle healthy, vigorous debate here. All we ask is that you observe the forum rules, use none-inflammatory language and be sensitive to the feelings and beliefs of others. I for one have no desire to censor people's ideas or opinions. Such a thing is repugnant to me.

I am still unsure what a "flame" thread is MSN. I would like to see precisely what is being proposed here before I could express an opinion. Normal forum rules would have to apply of course.

Thanks for that vote of confidence Siobhan. May I say in return that if everyone exercised the discretion and sensitivity that you do in your writing we wouldn't need moderators.

While I am in “official mode” can I just make one quick request here. This is particularly aimed at any “newbies” who may not be familiar with how we do things around here. I have recently had to edit a couple of posts from new members who were being a little too graphic in their praise of some of our contributors. Please remember that the ladies who allow us to share their pleasure are not professional porn stars and might be made to feel uncomfortable by inappropriate remarks about what you might like to do to them (or indeed what you might do to yourself whilst watching them). We like you to praise and thank them for what they give us but please guys. Keep it nice.

Certainly the thread should not be reposted without the consent of the person who started and then deleted it. That said, if somebody really has a copy of the thread in question, I wouldn't mind getting (privately) a copy of my own post from that thread. It's not that I'm egotistical enough to re-read my own posts (well... actually I am...:| but...), it's just that I had hoped to steal a few (anonymous, innocent) phrases from that for something else I'm working on.

The lovely Siobhan is partially correct, "someone" does have a copy - Unfortunately it is only a copy of the last three postings to the deleted thread (which happened to include my own post - hence the printing).

However, I must add that even if it were the entire thread, I would most certainly not repost or even consider doing so.

That is despite that fact that the later posts were not at all inflammatory, were "heartfelt" and spoke of respecting differing opinions and peoples' hopes for the future of the forum and, for those reasons alone; maybe those particular posts should still be available for reading.

What I have already done, and only after very careful consideration and also after firstly ensuring the course of action met with their wishes, is to privately provide one particular member, whose brave and heartfelt post moved me greatly, a copy of their post and, with Siobhan's blessing, her response and my response to their post.

I sincerely hope that the above does not offend or upset anyone, as that would never be my intention. In fact, I would be absolutely distraught if I ever, even unintentionally, caused any member of this forum any offence. I just felt it right to clarify matters.

I too have been on the internet for a good many years and am an active member in quite a number of forums and also chat rooms, so I know how easy it is to fall out with someone over something that was posted in innocence. In my experience, unless the person causing the trouble was actively trying to do so, then its more usual for the complaintant to be the one in the wrong, but as we say here in Yorkshire, there's nowt as queer as folk.
