Apologies

I've had a good chat with bobby and blissed this afternoon and they've made me realise I've been a pain in the arse previously, so I'd like to apologise to Richard and Gala particularly for some of my comments.

Thanks, hardly any porn sites have forums and I'm really glad ours has been useful to you.

If someone apologizes I generally accept it in good faith.

Re: Apologies

I accept your apology.

I also apologise for previously saying you were a douchebag, that was mean and pretty uncalled for.

Have a great weekend.

Thanks blissed and hyperballad.

Xebeche, all I can do is apologise for my actions, I can't make anyone accept that apology.

Re: Apologies

Instead of aplogising, why don't you try and debate some of the points?  You make all these flippant criticisms and personal insults, Bobby takes the trouble to debate this with you, and you just brush it all off with 'sorry'.  I think that's pretty hollow.  Hmm no shallow is a better word.

"Yep, I'd agree with that and bobby's even agreed you can all be a bit pretentious sometimes..." - Jeffo

3 minutes later, this incredible forum post was created, in which you publicly apologize for "some" of your comments.

News Flash:  You haven't changed anything, you're just tired of the reaction you're having to deal with from your most current public fountain pissing.  It's only a matter of time before you get bored at work and decide to start shit again.  You'll spout off some gem of jeffo wisdom and this whole cycle begins anew.

I can accept and even respect jeffo Jackass.  I mean, at least he'd stick to his points and try to defend them.  It's jeffo half-assed Jackass that's just a sad spectacle.  Waving your arms around like an idiot for attention, then grinning and getting all quiet when people look.  Seriously.  Grow up.  That shit is old.

I think you seem to be concerned for the welfare of the people who feature in the porn you like and I think if you took pictures of someone naked you'd pay and treat them well. Though all the good experiences you had and friendships you made if you took pics regularly and produced an erotic site would be hidden from the public and even some of your own family, so thats why the good news doesn't come out and the bad  does and what we're left with is a distorted perception based on the antics of the very worse.

So I  think that is why you felt you had the license to lay into the people on the site and I kind of hope you've come to realise thats not reasonable when this site is ethical and the people who work here are passionate about producing something beautiful and positive that you can enjoy.

.

Yep, I'd agree with that

Richard I think like most of us Jeffo has heard only bad things about porn in the press for years, been use to seeing a less than ideal product and thought IFM was probably too good to be true.  Bobby made a really good case yesterday and I think he's changed his mind enough to feel bad about his previous comments and apologize. He can speak for himself and I might be wrong but I can't see how he's gonna defend a position he doesn't seem to firmly hold anymore.

Xebeche there is no evidence just our interpretation of text and your interpretation is making very big assumptions about someone we don't conclusively know very much about, you might be right of course but I prefer to be optimistic, give someone the benefit of the doubt and establish goodwill.

Re: Apologies

Thanks blissed, you are a nice person and it's no surprise you're a moderator here.

However, Richard, the proprietor, the Fuhrer (don't take his correspondence course on client relations) has sanctimoniously decided not to accept my apology and has instead thrown it back in my face. What the fuck? Who cares? Life's too short. I've been thrown out of better joints than this.

I will belatedly take Groucho Marks advice about not wanting to belong to a club that would have me as a member

This is my last post EVER here. Good-bye, Auf Wiedersen, Au Revoir, Adios.

Re: Apologies

Jeffo  Richard has conceived and produced 3 beautiful sites and for nearly a decade he's endured the kind of crap you gave him when you arrived, not sure how I'd react to that and people are only human. As to you jumping ship, having an apology rejected is insulting but if we'd reacted to you like that when you 1st came and insulted us we'd have banned you straight away smile but we talked to you instead and I'm glad we did because I think we got to the root of why some people who really like the site and who are nice come here and aren't. If I was you I wouldn't be so thin skinned, it doesn't matter if some people didn't accept your apology some did and you made it, thats the main thing, I'm quite happy to see you post again.

Re: Apologies

Oh Jeffo seriously?

You gave us all chronic amounts of shit here, were incredibly rude and at times insulting.  You finally decide not to be an ass anymore, apologise and get a little in return and crack it like a 15 year old boy.  Some people are happy to accept your sorries, others aren't - this in the internet dude, put it into perspective.

When you behave like a jerk, it isn't as simple as saying sorry - it's the first step forward though and how you conduct yourself in such times speaks volumes about you...

Can you imagine if we held a similar attitude to you when you first came along guns blazing?  You would have been canned in 2 seconds flat.

You seemingly lack any tolerance for opinions differing to yours.

Good luck in your future endeavors, where ever they may be.

I agree with jeffo here.  I don't always agree with you, but you do have the ability to continually refresh your vantage point and try to listen to multiple sides without getting overwhelmed by rhetoric.

On a different note, the thing that sucks about this situation (in my opinion) is not the loss of jeffo, its the probability that there are 10 other forum readers who may hold similar views and not post them, because they lack the time/motivation/passion to discuss and argue some of these issues.

Re: Apologies

I follow the hard line that most of the other folks have, which is that an apology means nothing to me when you've chosen not to engage with me after insulting me.  You are one of those pesky folks who makes inflaming remarks and then just drops out of the discourse.  Your posts in the thread about categories make pretty much no effort to actually interact with anyone who's in debate with you.  Instead you make small jabs and petty insinuations and flitter away.  I find that more infuriating than any insults you could have hurled at me and my work, and you've failed to make good on that in any way.  I agree with Richard - your rhetoric, if it can be called that at all, is so hollow I can hear the echo.  I think it's not so much that you've come to a 'pretentious' place, but that you've come to a place where you are actually expected to be accountable to what you say and defend it intelligently.  Maybe you never expected to be called out, perhaps because people in the sex industry presumably don't care much for complex thought, but you failed to step up to any of that, and that's what makes you so despicable to me.  The number of dolphins you've saved and the kilojoules of carbon-neutral energy you've consumed doesn't really offset the 'snapshot' of the 'kind of person' you've revealed yourself to be in your posts.  I appreciate that you've exited; short of engaging with the people you've insulted, it's the best thing you can do for the people here.

You can watch a video while you wait...now which one.  I've heard good things about Gala's upcoming "Pretentious" contribution...

Re: Apologies

No thats not pretentious enough for me :)

I've just finished watching this, I think the way he sees things and what he designs is great and as this talk was done in 2005 his Chinese cities (from the end of the 18 min talk) should be well under construction by now.

Heres an update http://www.worldchanging.com/archives/010159.html
Hope he succeeds tho and they get built.

I'm going shopping now so might miss the scrap if it happens.

Re: Apologies

Back to what happened in the thread.

I think he apologized for his misconceptions but the guy was 80% there after only one afternoon, I'm sure it wouldn't have taken that much longer to have him 100% on board and discussing all the points people want to cover amiably with mutual respect. Some people arrive here, act like assholes and leave like that. But I've just had a very short email exchange with Jeffo and he seems reasonable and would have been open to further persuasion and I think whatever opinions he has about the site or porn people will listen too elsewhere credibly. We can't  imagine that we can send people away from the site because on the internet there is no "away"   if we do that too many times we form a groundswell of viral badwill and the world is so interconnected those people may as well be in Australia and can instantly communicate with anyone there, Australia is probly one of the most difficult developed countries to run a porn site from, we don't wanna make that worse just for the sake of fostering a bit of goodwill.
