Has anyone figured out how to use an iPhone to watch IFM clips? I'm not even sure that it's possible since it's not much in the way of a storage device, but I thought there might be a few people geeky enough to have done so and I'd like to speak with them personally.

I haven't actually made it work tho, so if anyone has, post here because I expect as usual there may be a few snags to sort before it works properly.

You're after an application called Handbrake. It can convert movies from what you download into the H264 (?)- compressed format used by iPods, and I'm sure it can do iPhone format as well.

In addition to the advice DrNathaniel gave, I'll note that if you have QuickTime Pro (a purchased upgrade to the free QuickTime player), you can export downloaded files to iPhone (both generations) and iPod formats. I personally don't have either an iPhone or a video-capable iPod (I'm waiting for my 2nd generation nano to die, so I'll have an excuse to buy a new one, or perhaps an iPod Touch), but I tried the conversion just for grins way back and it played fine in iTunes on my desktop.
PS to DrNathaniel: Have I perhaps seen you on another forum? Someone with the same nick (and what are the odds?) replied to me just today in a comment thread on Pharyngula. Reverse the letters of my IFM nick to get a clue to the name I post under there.

I now have the clip fourthwall on my I phone and it plays well.
I used E-Zsoft iPod to video to convert the file from a .wmv to a .mp4 file format.
From there it is straightforward add file to I tunes library then drag it over into the I Phone from I Tunes.
Thanks for that challenge and Gala thanks for opening another path with your comments about the Urban Tantra book. I purchased that book and it is fascinating reading.

Cool, thanks for that. And cool about your book purchase, Jack4Jill64, I hope you'll come and talk about it if it provokes any new thoughts for you. I still need to give it a proper read myself. Maybe Barbara Carrellas will give me a kickback from the sale I just made for her...

I actually have ONLY accessed IFM on my iPhone. I use my laptop for my work as well, and they tend to frown on sites that are not business related. I just set my media player setting to Quicktime and I can stream any of the videos right here on my phone. I heart technology.
