'Masturbate' is a pretty imprecise term. Even dictionaries give different definitions. One might suggest that it is reaching orgasm by means other than penetrative sex (so oral sex would qualify), another would say it is obtaining sexual pleasure by using hands or toys (so orgasm isn't necessarily achieved - it can be sexual activity leading to intercourse), by yet another it is solitary sexual pleasure (so here one person cannot 'masturbate' another - that would be petting or foreplay).

So Christian, I guess we need to say what we mean by masturbation if we want to answer a question like "When did you first masturbate?"

For myself, I no doubt had erections at a very young age and felt pleasure at touching them, but I have no actual recollection of that. By the age of ten or eleven, I was getting (and sometimes causing) erections and remember the real pleasure of rubbing them, but with no conclusion. The first time that I did reach a conclusion, and had an orgasm and ejaculated, I was thirteen, and remember that with crystal clarity.

My wife's first orgasm was when she was being 'masturbated', at sixteen, by her then boyfriend, but didn't make herself come (like Viva) until a few years later.
