I can just picture the DVD with a special commentary by the artist...wait, no I can't. Not sure that would work for us, scotman - if I was going to hear someone talk about their process I'd want that to be a separate piece, not one superimposed over the process itself. But thanks for your suggestion.

Oooh, I can! I've just been watching the West Wing DVDs I got for Christmas, and I love the commentaries. I typically watch the episode "straight" and then immediately watch it again with commentary turned on. I'm endlessly fascinated by the craft behind the art... and I can't imagine that would be any less true with IFM. My favorite commentaries feature the behind-the-camera folks -- writers and directors -- instead of, or at least along with, the onscreen performers.

Of course, there are no writers or directors at IFM, but I imagine a commentary featuring the editor, camera operator (where applicable), and/or blurbographer (see how I invented a word there?) would be really cool.

Not everyone's cup of tea, I'm sure -- some folks don't like peeking behind the curtain -- and it certainly shouldn't be the only version of anything... but if you were to occasionally offer something like this, as a one-off extra, I know I would be an eager consumer.

I love the idea itself and would love to make something like that someday. I just don't know if it would work on IFM vids. To me it seems that we try to keep the processes of production a bit understated - there's not a lot of info revealed about how it's all done and whatnot. There are quite a few shoots that would be served well by something like this - I can think of some that I've been on that have been particularly eventful - but I don't predict we'll do it. But you never know what surprises may await you...the weather may someday change!
