BDSM Mystery Solved!!! (kinda)

repost from ISM;

I remember years ago my flatmate was fascinated by the online live journal (i'm too young to really know what that means) of Delia Day, a famous New York artist who was in a prominent BDSM marriage.

The live journal detailed her daily relationship with her husband/master and their double life in public with their family and children (who were apparently shielded from their sex life) and extremely sadistic sex practices. But was super fascinating was that the live journal had ended years ago because Delia shot and killed her husband with a shotgun in 2003. The live journal remains evidence of their hardcore lifestyle but new information regarding the relationship and how the live journal came to be written has surfaced as Delia has come back on the internet 10yrs later to explain what really happened and why she was almost immediately acquitted of murder charges...

Check it out and post your thoughts below!

original live journal (apparently this was never written by Delia; but by her husband/owner- anyone who ever communicated with 'her' was apparently always speaking to him)

also checking out the comments is super fascinating

WARNING real life mysteries can be addictive, make sure you have a bit of spare time before delving into this one.

The whole thing is weird. I can say that to me, "Susan"'s blog and "Delia"s blog truly seem to be written in the same ponderous, vaguely conflicted, vaguely or overtly regretful and dour voice.

Jeez.

One of the issues in thinking about sex and sexuality that occupies the most of my brainspace is the question of reconciling an interest in BDSM/kink with the fact that the BDSM community visibly facilitates abuse. (In really awful ways - the website FetLife, which has become the de facto social network for the BDSM scene and where tons of local scenes organize events and converse outright bans discussions of abuse that name names, which means that serial abusers in a given local scene are protected from having their victims warned.)

This is an extreme example, and I wish I could say it was a shocking one.

Re: BDSM Mystery Solved!!! (kinda)

That's true. i guess, maybe she wanted to emphasis that she wasn't herself in the relationship with Travis, hence claiming he wrote all the posts. He also might have been really good at copying her voice. When I was practising writing, I found it really easy to adopt someone else's 'voice'. It really helped me ace english exams.

@ Aaronhalt; that's terrifying. I get really upset with communities that forget to exercise restrictions on people who are abusers. I think it's really slack. If you are commited to participating in a community, you have to accept that it means excluding people who do not abide by your guidelines. The fact that you can't warn people is disturbing and IMHO wrong.

As an aside, I wish the whole wasn't real. One of my loves in life is fantasizing about BDSM. If this was fictional, I would happily fap and fap all day over this material, but considering the real life outcome...... I'm not too sure.
