fastest way to a lover's heart...

... I actually don't like this idiom about the fastest way to a man's heart being through his stomach, because I'm a bit literal sometimes and that's so gory, but I DO love making boys happy with my cooking and omg do I love it when they cook!

there's something so special about eating together, especially after working up an appetite in bed. All those cuddly sparkly, oxytocin-fuelled smug we-just-had-sex vibes are the best seasoning.

I'm definitely on the Dan Savage side of date night rules - fuck first - but sometimes it's too soon in the relationship for that. So what are some meals you guys love to prepare for your dates, SOs, or just when you want to impress?

ps. right now for some reason I would do anything for an omelette.

PROTEINNNNNN haha. I would probably die if someone made me a veg lasagna with gnarly cheesy bechamel - oof. I do killer nachos and pastas (basic bitch heehee)

Also the fastest way to a man's heart is through his chest tongue (I wish I could remember what that's from!)

Re: fastest way to a lover's heart...

Hahah Viva I agree about the idiom being a little literal although I do also LOVE being cooked for! My partner is a rally great cook and always insists I sit down with a glass of wine while he cooks me dinner- although maybe that's because the last time I tried to help he sliced my finger open oops.

But we have definitely learnt that we need to fuck and then make dinner, after dinner we are so sleepy I just want to cuddle him. Also because my appetites pre-food seem to link up so I'm completely voracious for him before we eat and then we get all wholesome afterwards.

YESSS Mew if someone made me a veg lasagne I would dieee. I'll drop some hints hehe.

Most of my "famous" top-notch dishes are a bit spicy, so I tend to avoid those on date nights. My go-to is to bake up a couple of small chicken breasts with some oregano and garlic, and make a nice super green salad with a light vinaigrette. Maybe throw some home fries in the mix. Super simple, super tasty.

Ooh nice! This has made me incredibly hungry as it's rather balmy today and chicky and salad is goddam delicious in summer. Good plan on the no spicy for dates too! An ex once made me a really spicy veg curry when we'd only been hooking up for a couple of weeks and I spent an uncomfortable amount of time in his toilet, desperately hoping that none of the six people he lived with didn't need the loo (that also didn't have a lock on it).

Re: fastest way to a lover's heart...

Also to contribute to the thread, I am a notoriously average cook so I just stick with the couple of things I've made loads which is spaghetti bolognese and pasta bake. They're salty and stodgy and very filling so I feel like it gives the illusion of "a good home cooked meal" even though it's probably more akin to a teenager's attempt at being a "grown up". My oldest sister was a chef and I've happened to live with several really good cooks as an adult so I got super lazy over time and never really learned how to cook properly. Because of my sister and the others though, I know quite a bit about cooking in theory only, I'm just rubbish at any kind of execution. Also knives and fire are really scary you guys. I don't understand how people can be so skilled and casual with these murder weapons.

I absolutely LOVE it when people cook for me though. There's something so lovely and intimate and thoughtful about someone cooking for you. My partner is a pretty good cook and my favourite thing he does is chicken noodle soup. So simple but oh so tasty! He also make the most delicious baby carrots ever, as he puts them in orange juice and brown sugar which is something I definitely should have tried earlier than this year.

Re: fastest way to a lover's heart...

To impress, its always a dessert. I used to be a pastry chef, and still can barely cook a main meal to save my life, so all my effort goes into desserts while they cook the main meal haha.
Although, for me, I absolutely LOVE cooking with my partner, I find it more intimate than having someone cook for me or cooking for them. It's like a dance in the kitchen, and holding up the spoon for the other to taste, tasting it on each others lips, brushing past each other, SO HOT!
