I've been really into the new MGMT album lately, especially the title track. Love the really gothy, surreal vibe it has. Cool music video too.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rtL5oMyBHPs
Kids See Ghosts is also an incredible album. Kanye and Kid Cudi work miracles together. Probably one of hte best albums of both their careers. The song below is probably my favorite, that sample Kanye uses is just genius. Shoutout to the lyrics too, they're pretty funny.

Also recently discovered a band from here in Australia called King Gizzard. They're really prolific, put out like 5 albums in a row last year. Pretty hard hitting psychedelic/progressive rock. Fun as hell. Their album Nonagon Infinity is probably my favorite that I've heard so far. It has this neat gimmick where every song transitions into the next, including the closing and opening tracks, so you can theoretically listen to it as an infinite loop. Linked is my favorite song of theirs, a 10 minte behemoth called Crumbling Castle.

Lastly, my favorite band of all time, Death Grips. Fair warning, these guys aren't for everyone. Really, REALLY loud, in your face, abrasive -punk-rap music. They keep innovating with every single album. I guarantee you've never heard anything like these guys before. Again, these guys aren't for the faint of heart, but if you're into loud, angry jams, check them out.

Oh m gosh that simpsonswave is hilarious! I can't do vaporwave for awhile I played a lot of vaporwave youtube with my ex in japan earlier this year, right before he broke up with me. I'm just not quite over it yet

Argh! It sucks when music gets tangled up with bad experiences. I had a very white "Rasta" boyfriend in high school and I'm only just now able to listen to reggae again (hooraaayyy... Jokes, there are some sick tunes out there)
A Jeff Buckley break-up would be the friggen worst, also Nick Cave.. (this makes me think of he died with a felafel in his hand - very good movie/book yes)

thank god theres not and never has been a kanye breakup for me.
but like also it would be so amazing to have a boyfriend to listen to kanye with but then the breakup, fuck.
but what if we never broke up....
we could have a daughter and listen to "violent crimes" and smile... omg.

jeff buckley... with this last guy, it kept going on, I was so frustrated, listened to Buckley's "It's Never Over" on repeat. It's over now so I dont need that song anymore, but anyway it's mine.
This guy also took away Buffy, Battlestar Gallactica, Star Trek, sensitive men, being called "good girl", the ocean, roast chicken, and the entire countries and associated languages, cultures, aesthetic and cuisines, of Japan and Italy.
I will be reclaiming it all with intention over time.

Me either!! My whole house has gotten into Lizzo and she is a flippin' GODDESS. I feel unworthy to even gaze upon such a stunning being when I watch her music videos.

With the exception of Lizzo and Janelle Monae's Dirty Computer I have pretty much exclusively been listening to 80's new wave and/or post punk bands. I've always been a fan of that era and genre but it's grown so much this year! Some particular favourites are -
* The Dreamboys (Peter Capaldi's old band) - My dream-man made some really great grungy punk once.
* The Only Ones - Just found them this week! Other than "Another Girl Another Planet" I'd never heard any of their other stuff. Their self-titled album is perfection.
* Electronic - The supergroup comprising of members from Joy Division/ New Order, Pet Shop Boys, The Smiths and Kraftwerk!! I feel like such an idiot for not knowing this band existed. REDBIRD DO YOU EVEN 80'S BRO!?
* DD Smash/Th' Dudes/Dave Dobbyn - I always loved Slice of Heaven from Footrot Flats but OH MY GOD HE IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN THAT. Since I started watching the series Outrageous Fortune I've found so many amazing artists from NZ and Dave is one of my favourites. Sometimes a bit Bowie-ish, but with a less polished sound. So, so catchy and engaging! Outlook for Thursday is probably the track I listen to the most.
* World Party - I have a pretty big crush on Karl Wallinger and World Party are one of those bands that I can't believe aren't more popular. I first heard them late last year and I still listen to Ship of Fools every day. It's a painfully relatable song, given the current state of everything.
Some honorable mentions are - Deacon Blue, XTC, Big Country, The The, The Waterboys, English Beat, Scandal, Til Tuesday (still listen to them every day!!), Icicle Works, and Dexys Midnight Runners.
Does anyone like bands similar to these that I might not have heard yet? Please hit me with those suggestions!

Oh nooooo not Buffy!! I'm sorry he took so much from you, that's really awful. I hope the reclamation is swift and that you find a whole bunch of new and great things to invest your time in.
