Errr. The moon is a planet & it definitely relates to other planets. This specific planet has (so far) been proven scientifically to affect mood, sleep, digestion, menstruation, ovulation, even in-vitro gender assignment. The moon also absolutely relates to astrology. For example we're in a Cancer moon at the moment which I could post a link about but you would totally scoff at.

Saying our lives are governed by all the astronomical bodies in a way described by some random people (but no provenance of knowledge), and divided into 12 groups to which each are assigned different traits, is a hell of a long way from noting that lunar cycles affect sleep.

Rigid faith in science can be just as problematic as rigid faith in spirituality.

It can be problematic to people who prefer to ignore the truth and believe in arbitrary nonsense!

Re: How many people are into feet?

No one here is arguing that astrology is truth. Astrology is divination - a way of telling stories based on a combination of intuition and the consistant patterns of natural phenomena. Stories are, of course, extremely important. The ones we tell ourselves, the ones we use to explain our experiences - stories, even though they don’t have substance or weight, cannot be measured or quantified, the effects of which cannot be predicted with any kind of accuracy - nonetheless have immense power. You may be the most rational enlightened man in the room, but even you cannot escape the power of story. Your attachment to science as truth is just one kind of story. Science itself will be quick to state that our understanding of the form and function of the universe is ever changing, and that there are many things in existence we cannot explain. Social sciences are especially loose as far as mathematical rationality goes. Feelings, emotions, behaviours, personality - these things can’t really be quantified or predicted. According to you, the only acceptable form of truth is cold hard math - which is fine. Math is beautiful, but. You’re missing out on a whole lot.

You're misquoting me - it doesn't need maths to be proven.  All you need is objectivity, repeatable experiments, and peer review.  It's built into science that it always questions itself, whereas it's built into astrology (and religion) that it just is, and can't be questioned.  Surely a smart person has to find that a bit stinky.

Re: How many people are into feet?

Truth is much more subjective that you think, scientific methods change & the way we gather data changes. Our abilities to know what it is to even research to explain things evolves too. Sometimes science struggles to overcome ignorance & deep seated bias. For example that viking warrior skeleton was in the hands of scientists for decades & it was only last year proven through DNA analysis to be a woman.

Being smart means being open minded.
