Figured I'd start a dialogue on what sort of music IFM members/contributors have been listening to lately.
As for me, I've rediscovered my love for a musician named Pogo. Perhaps some of you have heard his work - he's been producing videos of his songs on YouTube for 10 years now. He has a knack for taking famous movies or television shows and finding a melody in what would normally be more or less amelodic to most of us. Its almost as if he's constructing a musical language with every song. Its fluffy, dreamy, catchy and beautiful.
Here's his channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCn-K7G … dQe6ZZk9-w
What about you guys?

Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! I fucking LOVE pogo. So good. I especially love the nostalgic disney-ish stuff he does, I think Mellow Brick Road is one of my fave tracks of his.
Honestly lately I've been picking the low hanging fruit, musically speaking. Been listening to loads of trashy mashup sets cos they make me wiggle my butt & stop me being such a neurotic, cranky person. I particularly enjoy Yacht Club Djs & The Kleptones.
I am also looking forward to heading out to a big psytrance gig this Friday night, I used to listen to loads of trance & run indoor & outdoor parties all centered around amazing psy djs & producers but it's much more of a rarity these days. Defs wanting to have a jolly good sweaty dance floor stomp to something crazy psychedelic & above 160 bpm!

Different from the above, but. Works been very stressful lately, so I've taken to listening to Pink Floyd's The Wall at least once a day (if not several on loop). Really works to counteract what's going on around me.

Depends on the mood. Most times I love listening to Chris Daughtry..... throwback to Toto, and throw in some Def Leppard for good measure. If I'm in a somewhat chill mode, I can switch to Sarah McLachlan or Sara Bareilles.
I think I'm in love... with you, lil' Missy! <3

Recondite's 'Warg' and Lana Del Rey's 'Money Power Glory' are the only things I listen to anymore.

I've been listening to loads of Aimee Mann's 80's new wave band 'Til Tuesday heaps lately, they're so ridiculously underrated it makes me angry to think how overlooked they were/are. I've also had RuPaul's albums on high rotation, Glamazon mostly, but Born Naked is also really great too!

Oh and Savage Garden!! I saw them when I was 14 and it was one of the best live gigs I've ever been to. I've been smashing Take That loads too (new and old stuff, it's all great!) because they're coming to Australia in November SO SO GOOD!!

ahh I love these threads <3

I'm not especially surprised given that I listen to almost exclusively pre-90's music, but I haven't heard or seen Lianne La Havas before but OH MAAAAANNNN SO GOOD!! I'm not normally a fan of really polished voices (it reminds me too much of Disney cheesiness) but she is just fucking glorious! So so beautiful. Thanks for the link Viva!! xo

aw redbird so glad you like it. i do love a nice smooth voice, like buttery with no edges just feels like coconut oil for my heart and mind! haha! I love disney too though so ;p
I bet we could find some common ground in the world of pre-90's RnB and hip hop. And how far back does your nosalgia go? I know you tend to hover in the 80's.... anyway you, me. dance party. soon.

I'm a big fan of Salt N Pepa and Neneh Cherry, so yeah late 80's/early 90's would be my fave time of music I think.

I'm totally on a Eurodance trip. I mean stuff like that:

Or pretty much everything from this guy:

I'm usually only listening to music while I'm driving and Eurodance fits perfectly because it pumps me up and makes me want to move

I used to really like Pogo, but a while back (~2015) he went on a misogynist tirade that was quite inflammatory (more so than some of the usual stupidity that floats around)--I find myself having trouble letting go of that. It seems strange that I cannot overlook Pogo's attitudes yet Thriller remains a classic for me.

Last night my husband, my dear sweet prince bought tickets to Dizzee Rascal for my birthday.

I have been listening to a steady mix of my Dizzee Rascal faves for the last 2 days, I am currently particularly enjoying Big Dirty Stinking Bass

Oh wow. I had no idea he said anything of that sort. That's quite disappointing to say the least.
In any case, I've discovered a YouTube channel recently that has captured my ears. Its simply called Fantastic Music and mostly focuses on "mixtapes" of chilled-out Hip Hop beats. Perfect music for studying, lounging, petting cats, sipping tea with a sunset, making out, etc.
Here's my personal favorite mix so far - https://youtu.be/u4ENF5OCtkY

Viva, funny you mention Majestic, as I discovered them the other day! Very similar branding to Fantastic Music! Wonder what thats all about. Either way, great music there as well.
If you're into vaporwave/future funk, I can also recommend Saint Pepsi: https://keatscollective.bandcamp.com/album/hit-vibes
