What kind of forum doesn't have one of these? Anyone mind if i do the honours?
The two CDs i can't stop listening to at the moment are Regina Spektor's "Mary Ann Meets the Gravediggers and Other Short Stories" and "Chandeliers in the Savannah" by Neon Blonde.
What is everyone else listening to?

At this minute, Imogen Heap.
I like her lyrics and her voice and no matter how she plays about with sounds and throws different things in, it always seems to end up sounding light and fluffy. When the page comes up click on 'Headlock'
'Goodnight and go' is nice too.

Kate Rusby's "The girl who couldn't fly" and Dick Gaughan's "A different kind of love song".

hmm right now I'm listening to Tom Waits Rain Dogs at home, and Iggy Pop in my car.

Hmmm... I'm currently listening to a podcast of the "Car Talk" radio show, but I suppose that's not really in the spirit of the thread. I must say, my 15 year old daughter has been listening to the Clash a lot recently, and I'm so proud! Her mother and I must have done something right!

I like it when people list some of the music they like because you sometimes find new things and I'd never heard of 'Rain Dogs at home' by Tom Waits and I wondered how you were listening to music, typing and driving at the same time. but then I realised that you weren't, Silly me I quite like his voice and he has got a touch of the Mr Bungles there, but I won't hold that against him I like 'lonely' from Closing time. That'll get me crying, and laughing or crying, it doesn't really take much to set me off.

Always wanted to hear Tom Waits do a duet with my favourite of the big singers, Leonard Cohen. Maybe a really heavy version of "Everybody knows". (Can you call Cohen "big"? Well he is compared to most singers I listen to. Mention Harvey Andrews, Dick Gaughan or Eric Bogle to most people and they just frown).

I've also got Johnny Cash's version of Hurt which I am loving.
Have you ever seen the video to this song? Beautiful, but heartbraking to watch.

Wow, I'm impressed! Is it early Clash (eg, White Riot, Complete Control) or some of their later stuff?

I like one thing they've done. london calling http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu … D=30248735 I like the guitar feedback and that it's dramatic. Theres quite a few people where I only ever like one thing they've done. Born to run by Bruce Springsteen's like that. http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu … D=50285176 click on Born to run

I have all my disks MP3'd and a 40Gb iPod, so it's more individual tracks than albums. Right now, mostly it's Machines of Loving Grace (mmm, Butterfly Wings), Juno Reactor, VnV Nation and Covenant. Offset with a little bit of Andrew W.K. because the man is so damn cheerful it's fun. I'm sort of listening to Rammstein and KMFDM again, but the latter's last concert in Australia sucked so hard it's almost ruined them for me. Oh, and I'm always relistening to Bond and E.S.Posthumous because I'm in love with the violin.

Is that the same Jose Gonzales song which is being used on a TV advert at the moment? The one with all the multi-coloured balls bouncing down a San Francisco street? I think it might be for somebody like IBM or Epson.

Some stuff from the London Calling and Combat Rock albums (i.e., the stuff that was relatively current when my wife -- then fiancee -- and I saw them play in Binghamton, NY, ca. 1983 or 84). She likes "Rock the Casbah" and "Should I Stay or Should I Go," of course (those still get played at school dances, I think), but also "London Calling," "Lost in the Supermarket," "Rudie Can't Fail"....
She's an interesting kid: She likes a lot of "what the kids these days are listening to," but also a bunch of the stuff my wife and I listened to in the 70s and 80s... and she's crazy for Broadway showtunes... and Weird Al Yankovic, as well. Eclectic, eh? Several of her friendboys (as opposed to boyfriends) are big into Dylan and the Grateful Dead, but she hasn't caught either of those bugs yet.

Bob Dylan is a total blind spot for me. I mean, I've got a large record collection, and listen to music all the time, but I've never really 'got' Dylan. He seems to attract an incredible amount of devotion from his fanbase, but to my ears he just doesn't sound anything particularly special. In fact, his voice is actually quite poor.
That said, I do like 'Lay Lady Lay', though.

I've also down loaded fairport convention on a recommendation from this site
Which album Liandra? The ones you want are Leige & Lief, What we did on our holidays and Unhalfbricking (They are the ones with Sandy Denny as lead singer). It's not everyones cup of tea but I hope you like it.
If you like gentle, traditional folky stuff at all you might want to give Kate Rusby a try as well.

I downloaded Leige and Lief which I am listening to now. I love her voice, where is her accent from. I can't place it. Irish?
Born in Wimbledon, London. Died tragicaly in 1978. I have everything she ever recorded. Some of her later solo stuff is magical. "I'm a dreamer", "One way donkey ride", "Solo" and her most famous song "Who knows where the time goes" are all worth a listen. All of these songs were written by her.

I've just downloaded Kate Bush 'Wuthering Heights' - I love it. I skip round my room like an utter nut bag shreiking like a banshee (which is what passes for singing with me)

Kate Bush is sooo much fun to sing along to, especially if like me you can't sing for shit. Have you seen the film clip for 'Wuthering Heights'? Its so much fun!

I think thats a fabulous idea- or a scratchy fucked up version of 'the future'. In Sydney some time last year there was a tribute concert to Leonard Cohen where all these musician types came and perfomed covers of his songs. There releasing a DVD soon and well I'm very very excited.

I just think theirs voices would work great in a duet. You know I don't want to take anything away from Bob Dylan but he is the great legend whilst Leonard Cohen is comparitivley obscure, but for my money Cohen's work is lyricly and musicaly for more imaginative.
I didn't know about the DVD. Do me a favour will you darling and give me a heads up when it is released in case I miss it?

Will do. Aparently Jarvis Cocker, Nick Cave, Martha Wainright the Anthony and the Johnsons guy (these are the poeple that stuck in my head) are all on there doing versions of his songs. Did I mention I was excited... very excited!!

In the last couple of days, Morrissey's new album, "Ringleader of the Tormentors" and one song in particular by The Pogues, "Thousands are Sailing" (album version and live version--I could put that song on repeat all day).
