the UK, and Europe
The UK is, despite all appearances to the contrary, part of Europe! (Don't worry, a lot of British people forget that too!)

It wasn't typical American ignorance; I meant to be distinguishing between the UK and "the Continent."
BTW, don't the Brits still hold themselves somewhat at arm's length from the rest of Europe on some issues... notably adoption of the Euro? Back when I was hearing the BBC World Service on NPR, I seem to recall hearing more than one Brit refer to "Europe" rather in the third person.
Anyway, in the context of my comment about the Bush administration, the reason the distinction was meaningful was that the UK -- or more precisely, the Blair government -- behaved rather differently than most of the rest of Europe WRT the Iraq war.

Personally I think while Saddam is in jail, he gets far too much time to indulge his hobby's.

Most valuable lesson, eh? Be careful who you give "pearls" to. Pearls not meaning sex, but deep emotional, spiritual, sacred, experience to. Not everyone deserves it. "Don't give what is sacred to dogs or cast your pearls to pigs." Dogs and pigs have no appreciation for its sacredness. That was a major painful lesson I learned. I am still affected by that mistake today 13 years later.

This thread has almost died, but I wanted to say that the most valuable thing I ever learned was to change a tire....... Simple as that is, it has saved my bacon twice...... now if I can only learn not to hit stuff in the road.....
