I think that some self-produced porn can be quite impressive these days but having to perform, and shoot, and edit, and deal with the web host, and market (on porn-hostile social media), and get your own snacks and drinks seems like a lot.  If you have to do your own laundry after you might as well be having plain old sex right

That's the thing though, isn't it – in order to profitably run an adult website these days you need to do everything yourself. Forget about hiring staff,  just put out one or two updates per week that you've self-produced. Or ideally, don't produce anything at all that can potentially be stolen. Which basically means, stick to live webcamming or adult dating. It's a sad world... I would imagine however that unique sites such as Beautiful Agony will always be viable, even if they don't generate big bucks.

Privignus, thanks for mentioning Four Chambered Heart. I had never heard of them but it sure looks like an intriguing project (no competitor to IFM as the stuff they do is totally different).

Yeah, over the years there have been a few IFM videos which are kind of art porn, but they are not the focus. And neither is a punk kind of look.

I seem to remember an IFM shoot where the main video was overlaid with some marine imagery which was kind of FourChambered's style?

I much prefer IFM, but hard to put my finger on why. Maybe it is that the AW models always seem like they are playing to the camera - not in a mechanical way, more hamming it up. They seem like they are relaxed and having fun - but that is not the same as sexy. In the AW scenes with two girls masturbating, they start off touching each other and chatting, quite relaxed, but when they start masturbating, they often close their eyes and ignore each other, as if they are uncomfortable to be there. The vibe is that they thought "Sure, I'll give this a try with another girl, it will be fun," but when they actually get down to it, they just aren't really turned on by masturbating with another girl so they awkwardly pretend that they are along. This is overstating it a bit, and there are some exceptions for sure, but that's the kind of vibe I get from AW. In contrast, the models in IFM really seem to be ignoring the camera.
