first fim I saw where a woman had an orgasm was a British movie called "The Fox" in the mid sixties. It was probably the first film I remember that dealt with lesbianism as well. I can't remember who was in it now but it concerned a lesbian couple living on a farm whose relationship was destroyed when a man showed up and seduced one of them. Very hot for the time as films which graphically depicted sex were rare then. It was probably the first time I realised women could orgasm. I seem to recall a Canadian film called something along the lines of "Better than Chocolate", about an aspiring artist (a woman) who moves into a sort of bohemian artists' community. She hasn't quite come out yet, but there she meets a rather butch woman who introduces her to the wonders of lesbian love. I don't know about first or favorite, but there's a movie called When Will I Be Loved that has a number of very hot sexual scenes... the first of which has the female lead (Neve Campbell) masturbating in the shower. It doesn't really focus that closely on her orgasm (i.e., no obvious verbalizations or closeups of the "orgasm face"), but the commentary on the DVD (there's a whole special feature that spikes out all the sex scenes, just for us pervs! ) seems to indicate that she was actually masturbating, not just acting. Frankly, even though the masturbation aspect is somewhat subtle, the scene is worth your time anyway, just for her beauty and the sensuous nudity of the shower.

The movie itself is pretty dark -- sort of a darker, more serious take on the Indecent Proposal premise -- but it was deservedly well reviewed. As I noted, though, the DVD packaging makes it easy to watch just the sexy scenes, if you want to avoid the downer plot.

I'm with Khanada Faye on this one. "Secretary:" great film and interesting masturbation scenes. And Maggie is such a cutie.

I'm also a big Naomi Watts fan and loved "Mulholland Drive." Her masturbation scene in that film was intense.

Still, I remember watching near-X-rated movies late at night on Showtime(back when it was the original Skin-emax) after my parents went to bed. Yes, it is called "Better than Chocolate". The one masturbation scene in it comes when the young woman's mother discovers a box of sex toys under the bed. It's very funny, because this mother is clearly inexperienced with toys (especially battery powered ones), but she's tempted, and tries one, then another, and thoroughly enjoys herself.

It's a good film. Lots of good scenes, and a few musical numbers that are better than I'd expect (best is "I'm Not a F***ing Drag Queen!")

The DVD is quite good, and can be ordered on Amazon. Don't expect to see it here in Australia.

I actually first laid eyes on it in a video store as a VHS rental, and was mildly attracted by its cover (dildos and stuff are pretty exciting for a teenager), but I was living at home, so renting movies based on "a tingle" wasn't so much a possibility.
