Amelia Curran, "The Mistress"
Love her, "Tiny Glass Houses" I was impressed when I noticed one poster compare her to the late Kate Wolf. High praise indeed.

IFMers! It's been too long, but summer winding down in the PNW means more time for indoor pursuits-- music, flicks, games, books, you all... And just in time, The Blow has released their first new album in 7 years and it is the bees knees.

I guess I'll send this one out to Junipur. Pretty psyched to see her new Diary series. (starts today!)

The new Roy Harper album "Man and Myth" is fantastic. Pure old-style hippy rock classics.

I've played the latest Queens of the Stone Age album (...Like Clockwork) to death over the past few weeks! Getting very excited about their tour with NIN next year, I'm going with my friend Audrey L.
But at this very moment I'm listening to usual Pandora mix, which has heaps of The Smiths, Nine Inch Nails, Joy Division, The Cure and other assorted depressing classics.

It's been out for a while now but this song and video should always be appreciated - Cookie Thumper by Die Antwoord. While you might not like the song, the video is really cool and available in 1080p. **Contains mature themes**

Oh Beyonce, I am so ready to be a part of your world! I wonder if the director is affiliated with the Crazy Horse in Paris? Many of the dance routines are SUPER Crazy Horse inspired!

You're right, it was inspired by Crazy Horse, I think some of the Crazy Horse dancers are in the videoclip. Beyonce talks about it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl … fxaA#t=158

I saw 20,000 days on Earth yesterday, a semi scripted documentary about Nick Cave. It had some cool footage of him recording his latest album, Push the Sky Away. I like it, you can listen to it here:

oohh, I'm excited to see this film. Nick Cave somewhat facilitated a relationship with my father, thanks Nick Cave. I found 'Let Love In' on cassette in my dads car and I guess it helped me understand some of the darker aspects of his (my dads) personality and much of the teenage anger I felt towards him dissipated. Thanks Nick Cave.
'Let Love In' is still my favourite album.

Aven, I believe you picked "Red Right Hand" for an earlier video.
I was vaguely aware of Nick Cave before that video; now he's one of my favorites, thanks to you. He recorded some magic for the Leonard Cohen concert/biopic "I'm Your Man". I highly recommend it to all.

Yay, I think you'll like it . Did you use Red Right Hand for an IFM?

A portrait of Nick Cave, and The Influence (Leonard Cohen consoles Nick Cave), paintings by Ben Smith.
A love affair between Leonard Cohen and Nick Cave was a favorite dreaming of mine when I was a teenager.

those are great, the facial expressions are so funny. I feel like the lyrics in 'Push the Sky Away' have many echos of Leonard Cohen.

OK, I know a lot of people might have been listening to this because of their free download to iTunes, but I've really been enjoying U2's Songs of Innocence. Over the years have had different reactions to their music, from disappointment to a total feeling of transcendence. I remember times in college turning off the lights, laying on my carpet, and listening to the Joshua Tree, and just being mesmerized. For me, amazing music takes me to a different place - sometimes to tears, sometimes to euphoria. One thing I love about their new music is not that it's breaking new ground, but that it's about being vulnerable about the things that made an impact about their early lives - from music that changed their world, to situations in their families and hometowns that they remember to this day.
