Hey all, just dropping in to mention that I'm doing the This Is My Jam thing again.
This week's track is for Gala, who rocks.
Cat Power - "Cherokee"
http://www.thisismyjam.com/flatlander
One of my favorite songs of last year. I think the rest of the album is kind of "ehh" but I found this single really reaaally catchy. The video is kind of... strange. I've watched it through three times now and still could not summarize what's going on there, but I like it. Reminds me of Tank Girl somewhat.
Loooooving Gala's new diary series, especially the new segment posted today (2.2). It thrills me to imagine a scenario where a kid finds their parent's pr0n folder and the top-most video is a 10-minute mp4 of a gorgeous woman in a yellow sweater sharing some thoughts she's had about crafting her own self-image and re-focusing some of her sexual desires back onto herself. "So this is what pornography is..." he or she thinks to herself. "...I see what all the fuss was about." That kid grows up lusting after intelligent, deeply introspective women. Success!

This track makes me feel nice, it is full of lovely tones. The video is new (to me) and worth a watch! Hope ya'll enjoy.
There are samples reminiscent of Philip Glass, anyone recognize it? It is driving me nuts trying to figure it out!
