Re: Currently listening to thread

Woah, wait a second... Ride is my all time favorite band, so no need to big them up to me.  In fact, check out my chest.

IMG_2652.jpg

The song I was referring to is a b-side that should have been one of the main tracks on "Going Blank Again" but for some reason was bumped.

Uh, Andy Bell plays bass in Oasis.  And if you really want to hear something exquisite, check out Mark Gardener's solo stuff.  He does an amazing version of "Dreams Burn Down".

Re: Currently listening to thread

What was Mark's outing- Hurricane something?  With the boxer/hard man vocalist...

ps.  didn't mean to imply Howard wasn't great.  Both the singles (from Going Blank) had great extras

Re: Currently listening to thread

Actually Andy Bell was in Hurricane #1.  I'm fairly certain that Mark didn't do anything else.

The entire back catalouge.

This was a band who I was a huge fan of a number of years back before I kindof forgot about them. Then after seeing them in concert at the beginning of the month I've decided to order those albums I didn't already have. I missed out on some brilliant songs/tunes. Glad to have picked them back up now.

www.bluetones.info

Wow, that brings back some memories. They were pretty big for a while in the mid-90's, in fact they may have even got to #1 ('Slight Return'?).

Didn't realise they were still going, good for them!

Bish

Indeed.

I actually saw them live in Glasgow a couple of weeks back, and they also have a new album out and a new single soon. It's a shame they've disappeared off the radar a little, but then it means fans like myself can become snobs about it. big_smile

Bluetones.  Man, seeing your signature and thinking about that song... I really need to dust that record off.

AC/DC. After hearing Back in Black on the radio the other day a wave of nostalgia hit me. It might take a lot more before I pull out the old black t-shirt and skin light light jeans though....

Are they something to do with Rocket From The Crypt? Very similar bandnames!

Re: Currently listening to thread

That was the first thing I thought when I read that too.  However, Rocket from the Tombs is an early proto-punk band from the late 70's.

Re: Currently listening to thread

Lately I've been listening to Bonnie Prince Billy, Robert Wyatt, early Nick Cave as well as his latest effort Grinderman which I'm still undecided on and for something with a few less words (as in none) Secret Cheifs 3.

Re: Currently listening to thread

Nice choices, all.  RFTT is a predecessor to Pere Ubu- the original "30 Seconds" was them.

Arcade Fire- Neon Bible... it rules!

Re: Currently listening to thread

PJ Harvey has such a beautiful voice. I've been stuck on listening to "You Said Something" all day.

I sense a Neil Young craving coming on. Mm, yeah. It's been forever since I gave "Down By the River" a good listen.

The Catholic Comb - "Patriots of Love"

I bought a new skateboard video yesterday afternoon and this was the track that they used in one of the parts.  Really fucking good.
